The Herald Sun have published who they think are the top 100 earners in the game and their estimated pre and post Covid salaries.
SALARY FIGURE
* Player’s contracted salary for 2020 to the best of our information. A number of players are in the same wage band. Salaries can alter depending on bonuses.
COVID SALARY
* Each AFL player is losing around 28 per cent of his 2020 contract salary because of COVID-19.
I won't reproduce the full list here because it is not in a format where that is easy to do, however here are some highlights:
100 Brodie Grundy $550-$625 (back ended deal)
94 Easton Wood $600-$650
92 JJ $600-$650
83 Issac Smith $600-$650 (since we chased him last year)
81 Peter Wright $600-$650 (can't get a game)
75 Lachie Hunter $600-$650
74 Darcy Moore $625-675 (due for a pay rise)
55 Jarrod Witts $675-$725 (wow)
52 Charlie Curnow $675-$725 (can't get on the park)
51 Mitch McGovern $675-$725 (good luck to him I guess)
50 Jack Macrae $700-$750
36 Joe Daniher $700-$750 (pay cut coming)
33 Taylor Walker $725-$775 (signed at the right time in 2017)
25 Jordan De Goey $775-$825 (big money for the odd good game)
17 David Swallow $800-$850 (I guess the Suns have to pay someone big dollars)
10 Max Gawn $900-950
9 Lachie Neale $900-950
8 Marcus Bontempelli $950-$1 million
7 Jeremy McGovern $1-$1.05 million
6 Patrick Dangerfield $1-$1.05 million
5 Jack Martin $1.1-$1.15 million (front ended deal)
4 Dustin Martin $1.175-$1.225 million
3 Nat Fyfe $1.2-$1.25 million
2 Lance Franklin $1.4-$1.45 million (back ended deal)
1 Jeremy Cameron $1.5-$1.55 million (back ended deal)
These are all pre-covid figures. Wood is on more than I thought (I imagine we save a few $ when he re-signs), the other dogs aren't surprising.
