The result is the result. I think if we look back at where things were 48 hours ago we've gotten as good as we were ever going to get. It's a massive win not having to use 21 on Lobb and I don't know if there's a huge amount of difference between picks 15 and 25 anyway.

It's a lot of change for Brisbane to suck up in the midfield and forward line, and who knows, they may be due an off year and our future first might turn into a pick around ten - which is entirely possible.

I did the maths like a nerd. Assuming everyone finished in the exact same position and before any FA compo or fs bids it works out to be pick 4.

I had 21 (obviously), 15, 32, 69 and 72 coming in with 50 and 51 going out.

Might not have done everything perfectly but 'on points' it was technically a top 5 pick as far as I can tell.

Or if you just want to look at the steak, 21, 15 and 32 are worth pick 2 (haha sure it is)

More importantly it gives us 3 decent looks at talent to add to the list. Very important picks for us. We've had a good run with our first round picks for a good while now. Aside from our recent twin towers it's been Weightman, Smith, Naughton and Richards, English and then none the two years prior.

Allowing a player to run down their contract and selecting a single club reduces these value especially if that club has committed to other targets already. The difference is, on one hand the club is in control and on the other the player (and his agent) are in control. I would certainly like to see the club taking a bit more of a resign early stance with players. To me post GF last year would have been a great time to get in Dunk's ear and say, lets push this out to the after the RFA period.

Personally not a fan of all power resting with either party - but there has to be a better balance.

The player should nominate 3 clubs - if they have that much interest - and then the departing club can get the best deal for them.

Half the issue is the departing club is absolutely slated in the media for not bending to the players will. The narrative is the player and receiving club are happy with the deal, the departing club is being difficult.

I wonder whether Sam power has picked up much more responsibility since Austin left and as such doesn’t have as much time to dedicate to each thing. First couple of trade periods felt much better run than the last couple

Same here. I can remember going to school sports and the teacher insisted there was to be no booing of other schools/people or it would be the last trip you would get and he reminded everyone that it was a sign on immaturity.
