I just don’t think we have a match up for Hawkins, and after a mediocre performance against Crows, they would’ve got a rocket leading into this weeks game. Selwood/Taylor possible returns...watch Taylor go fwd and kick 2-3 goals....

Kick to handball ratio and marks says it all with these two sides. They play such a different style. Cats love to keep possession by foot, we love that quick movement chaos by hand.

We bring the pressure as you saw with the Crows at times on the weekend, that over kicking game out of their defensive half can fall down with one missed target leaving them flat footed against a surging attack.

I too think we are a big chance in this one.

We get the ball as much as they do with Cats 20 more disposals for the year than us and sitting 1 and 2 (us) on most AFL disposals. Inside 50s we are 5th with 4 less than Cats who are 4th. Unfortunately as we know we waste alot of inside 50s. The telling stat is marks inside 50, where Cats lead the AFL and we are 5th.

Cats lead AFL for clearances, (we are 10th, but I think we have improved here), they also lead AFL with centre clearances to us 5th, and cont.poss, they are 2nd and we are 3rd.

Chris Scott has said:
- Selwood to miss again.
- All but confirmed Zach Tuohy (knee soreness) and Harry Taylor (managed) would return to face the Dogs after missing last week's win over Adelaide.
- Jack Steven's improving fitness levels would likely allow him to back-up off a five-day break and tackle the Dogs.
- Harry Taylor's return to the side would likely be the only significant change to his side's structure on Friday night.

https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/802029/four-things-to-watch-round-14

Four things to watch: Round 14
The hot topics and talking points ahead of the Bulldogs' blockbuster match-up against Geelong.

1. Dead Eye’ returns

Tory Dickson has been a consistent contributor for the Western Bulldogs for the best part of a decade.

The 32-year-old returns this week for a crunch clash with the Cats.

It’s his first game for 2020, but Dickson is no stranger to the big stage and has some solid scratch-match form behind him.

His track record of 181.61 from 113 games proves he knows where the big sticks are.

And in what are expected to be dewy, night-time Gold Coast conditions, Dickson’s goal-smarts could have a big say on proceedings.

2. Bontempelli v Dangerfield

You’d imagine these two are likely to go head-to-head at different stages on Friday night.

But even if they don’t, the impact they are able to have on the game will be critical.

Bontempelli, the Bulldogs’ skipper, has put together a scintillating fortnight of football to lead his side to wins against Melbourne and the Adelaide Crows.

Dangerfield has similarly had an important impact over the past two weeks.

Both are among the competition’s elite midfielders, for their ability to win the ball around the stoppage and generate an offensive impact.

3. Dogs’ track record

Make no mistake, the Bulldogs will have a point to prove.

Their record against current top-eight sides this year is 0-5 – with early-season losses to Collingwood and St Kilda followed by a string of defeats to Richmond, Port Adelaide and the Brisbane Lions in the first ‘footy frenzy’.

Despite those outcomes though, the Bulldogs sit in eighth spot on the ladder.

It makes Friday night’s clash against the Cats super important.

A win would go a long way to solidifying that spot inside the eight, but a loss could see them slip back to 11th – depending on other results across the round – and make those finals ambitions just a little bit harder to achieve in 2020.

4. Stop the Tomahawk

Bulldog boss Luke Beveridge admits Tom Hawkins is going to take some stopping.

The Cats’ spearhead has had a sensational 2020 season, not only leading the Coleman Medal tally with 33 majors, but being a joint leader for goal assists (16).

Stopping Hawkins goes a long way towards the Bulldogs getting four points.

That job looks likely to fall to new defensive chief Alex Keath.

Keath has had an outstanding debut season in red, white and blue and will no doubt be excited by the challenge – and probably hoping for some aerial assistance from time-to-time from the likes of Easton Wood and Hayden Crozier.

What I crave most is Naughton staring down a crumpled Harry Taylor after he's had his head used as a launch pad.

Taylor loves playing us, so don’t be surprised if they bolster height in their fwd line and start Taylor beside Hawkins. Taylor has kicked multiple goals against us before.

Aye, I can do without the reminder.

It'll get interesting if they pull that lever because should Taylor get hold of someone like sayyyyy, Gardner, there's literally nobody else to switch onto him short of Naughton or someone undersized.

Hope our mids are on!

Will be interesting how both teams line up. Their backline as named is huge - all 190cm or above. They may play a bigger player on Wallis than he usually gets, could be tougher for him in the one on ones.

Their forwardline by contrast is small. Hawkins the only tall, Rohan with some height but his pace is the worry - Wood or Crozier perhaps? If Keath takes Hawkins where does that leave Gardner?

Yes massively missing it. Different sport on TV. I'm always looking a kick ahead of the game when I'm there. Watching the running patterns, the leads, gesticulating where they should kick it to open the defence.
On TV I'm stuck trying not to let anything the commentators say cloud my idea of whats happening.
Any chance we can get behind the goals footage and have it picture in picture if we so choose??

Crosier crazy good mark in half back to save a goal. His goal was awesome
Good pack mark from josh Bruce .
Nice foot tap from English to poke ball towards Richards who finds mcClean, fantastic he converts to a goal
Naughton is looking to tear up the cats backline . His taken 3 contested marks

Kicking at 100% efficiency at one stage

I want Bevo to rev the boys up and tell them to smash the cats
