This is the round 17, 2020 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once the game against Haethorn is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

B

+ Naughton’s attack on ball/man/anything that moves. He’s an animal and his teammates must love the way he goes about it.
+ JJ’s finishing and kicking inside 50. I like him playing up the field.
+ Timmy flushing a few set shots and generally holding his own in the ruck. I thought the match up would suit him and he was rock solid all game, perhaps fading late due to fatigue

A

- McLean. Enough said.
- Intensity dropped off after half time and plus we didn’t adapt to the evening up at the stoppages
- Still have too many non-contributors

Bankers

1. JJ's two goals in the first quarter
2. Naughton's marking - love watching him
3. Smith's great Snap over his shoulder

A fourth I just remembered, Caleb's intercept and big goal in the last

Anchors

Mclean - bad luck to him after hitting some form

Bankers:

Naughton - thought when Hawthorn had control of the ground in the first quarter he recognised what was happening and got himself up the ground, hit some contests with real urgency and got us going.

Bont - sublime display. 11 clearances and all genuine/big clearances. Has begun to really physcially impose himself this year and bully his way through when needed.

JJ - Those two goals broke open the game for us when it was a bit tense early. Good to see him fly aggressively enough from behind when Smith's kick wasn't great, and force the spill which got him the chance for the snapped goal.

Anchors:

McLean's injury obviously.

Not much else really. Everyone had at least moments of contibuting. It was a fairly relaxing watch given that it was over before half time. There are worse ways to spend Sunday arvo, than beating Hawthorn. Next Sunday will be tougher.

Bankers

1. Caleb Daniel. What a jet. Best field kick in the comp. This bloke does not panic.... Iike ever

2. Keeping our nerve when the Hawks got a bit of a run on. We lost our nerve against Geelong but we weren't having any of it against the Hawks. Geelong are a different beast than Hawthorn but we still had to steady when the heat came which we did.

3. Doc Duryea getting a game under his belt. His experience could be a god send if/when we play finals. He's a good organiser down back

Anchors

1. Toby's knee. *!*!*!*!!

2. Not winning by 10+ goals. It was on the cards

3. No goals from Bruce again. I still believe he'll come good but he needs to start kicking some *!*!*!*!ing goals
