Marvel Stadium COVID-Safe Plan


Marvel Stadium is excited to be welcoming patrons back to the stadium and would like to reassure guests that the stadium has implemented a thorough and exhaustive COVIDSafe plan.

Marvel Stadium is operating under the guidance of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Our absolute priority is the safety and wellbeing of our patrons. We have implemented a number of increased safety measures including reduced group sizes, social distancing and increased hygiene practices, to bolster our already strict operational procedures.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and act in accordance with the advice of the Government and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Our team are doing everything possible to ensure patron safety; we encourage you to self-manage while onsite, and make your personal attendance decision based on current COVID-19 information and your personal circumstances. In order to keep all patrons, players, match officials and staff safe, there have been a number of changes we have made to your experience including:

- When the roof is closed, it is mandatory to wear a mask. As a precaution, please wear your mask when moving around the stadium even when the roof is opened

- Extra cleaning and sanitisation pre, during and post-event, with a focus on high traffic areas like hand-rails is taking place.

- The stadium will be segmented, meaning fans will not have access to the entire venue. However fans will have access to amenities and F&B in their zone

- Water fountains will not be in use.

- Cloaking facilities are not in use.

- Bags over A4 in size will not be permitted.

- Marvel Stadium is cashless, meaning only contactless payments can be used for purchases of food, beverages and merchandise.

- The event ticketing system supports contact tracing.

- The stadium will provide hand sanitiser stations for patrons at a variety of locations across all levels of the stadium.

- All food and drinks must be consumed in your seat. Patrons will not be able to linger on concourses or remain standing whilst consuming food or beverages.

- Some activations, such as kick to kick or player autographs, will be paused to ensure social distancing requirements are met.

- Dedicated entry gates for all fans: patrons will only be able to enter through the gate number on their ticket, at the designated time

- To ensure adherence to the Government’s COVID-19 health and safety regulations, a one person per two square metre rule has been implemented.

- Hand sanitising stations are available at Entry and Exit points as well as situated around the stadium.

- We have increased the cleaning and disinfecting of all surface areas and frequented spaces.

- No standing at or on your seat, patrons must be seated at all times when at their designated seat



Other key changes to your experience include:


Cashless


- Marvel Stadium will be cashless.

- We will not be able to facilitate any cash transactions, so please come prepared with a credit or debit card (or another device) to pay for food and beverages, merchandise, parking etc.

- Credit and debit cards will continue to be accepted. This change has been implemented to deliver faster service for patrons and to adhere to COVIDSafe measures.



Ticketing

- Patrons will only be able to purchase tickets online, with no ticket sales available at the stadium. Additionally, all tickets will be issued to the buyer’s mobile phone, with no print at home or paper tickets being offered.

- Ensure you download your ticket to your phone before you arrive.

- Mobility impaired patrons will purchase their tickets via Ticketmaster’s Accessible Seating Line, or via the email service for Wheelchair, Companion Card or Special Needs booking requirements.

- All patrons will be required to complete a digital health screening process to be completed at the time of ticket purchase or ticket allocation.



Arrival

- To ensure the safe arrival of all patrons, Marvel Stadium has introduced staggered arrival times.

- Patrons will need to adhere to these times which will be identified on their ticket.

- While entry times are strongly recommended, there are no consequences if missed. Entry will still be facilitated, but may be delayed.

- Patrons will be allocated a specific gate for entry which is based on their seat location and will be the only gate they will be allowed to enter through.

- Upon entering the stadium, scan the QR code displayed and ‘check in’ with your details.



Security

- To fast-track entry into the stadium we encourage you to travel without bags, and if bags are necessary, they are to be no larger than A4 size.

- In the instance a bag check is required, patrons will be responsible for unpacking and repacking their personal belongings.

- This will ensure unnecessary contact between the two parties is avoided.

- All patrons entering the stadium will be subject to bags being searched and wanded randomly and continuously.



In Stadium

- Patrons will only be permitted to leave their seat for three reasons in order to assist with social distancing, and reduce traffic in places of gathering on both the internal and external concourses. Patrons will be permitted to leave their seats to:

- Purchase food, beverages or merchandise items.

- To attend public amenities such as the bathroom, prayer room, sensory room and parents’ room.

- Exit the stadium.

- The stadium has been segmented into 4 zones. Fans will be asked to remain in their allocated zone. Fans will still have access to F&B and amenities. Customer Service Team Members are there to assist on the day

- Patrons are encouraged to leave the stadium using the same gate they arrived through.


Cloaking

- To avoid creating additional touch points with patrons, cloaking services will not be available at events.

- Patrons entering the stadium with prams/strollers will need to ensure they can be stowed underneath their seat.



Parents’ Room

- The stadium has two parents’ rooms with baby change facilities available for use. These amenities will be restricted to use by one (1) group at a time.

- Baby changing facilities, such as tables and nappy bins, will be regularly cleaned and sanitised. Change mats will be removed from all locations.

- There are fold-down changing tables in all disabled bathrooms throughout the stadium.



Sensory Room

- Unfortunately the Sensory Room can not open at this stage.

- Sensory Bags that were available to hire for the event duration will no longer be available, in order to assist with maintaining good hygiene and reducing touchpoints.



Prayer Room

- The stadium prayer room on Level 3 is not open at this stage.



Car Parking

- Carparking must be prepaid via https://parking.marvelstadium.com.au/

- Once booked through the online system, you will then receive an email containing your car parking ticket with a QR code for entry and exit of the car park. The QR code can be scanned from your mobile device when entering or exiting the car park

- There will be no access from the car park levels of the car park into the Stadium. All car park patrons will be required to exit via foot onto Bourke Street and use the external stairs to the concourse level.

It’s identical to the A League at AAMI. Biggest issue I’ve found is at the breaks they don’t allow movement between zones so for eg if you’re on level 3 you can’t go to the level 2 food outlets. So it does become pretty busy is my experience.

Set entry times will be tough.

It will also impact all the pubs and restaurants in the surrounding areas.

Our membership cards this year don't have any seat numbers, so will be interesting getting tickets and good sit anywhere.

I've had this conversation with my mum who's a 50 year plus member in her 80s! (she was at 54 and 16!).
The way is works now is you don't get a membership card for entry. You basically have paid for a discounted ticket on game day with your membership in your area.
So.. As I did today with the Victory (im a 10 yr member) you use your membership code to buy a ticket in the members sale window. Think finals. It's the same.
You won't be able to walk up and scan a card. It works ok, it's just you have to pre buy.

It's so they can know for sure who is in the stadium. Hopefully we only have to do this for a year and we can get back to some normality 2022.

How tickets will be carved up for round one of the AFL season

The AFL is looking at a scenario in which there will be very little or no general admission to games for round one in Victoria.

Under the ticketing arrangements under discussion by clubs and the AFL, the members of home teams will be prioritised, then the “away” club’s members, and stadium members - such as MCC and AFL members - with general admission tickets only available once those other groups have had windows to gain seats.

Sources with a knowledge of discussions say that the carve-up of tickets for the blockbuster Richmond-Carlton season opener is expected to follow a formula in which the MCC and AFL members’ areas would be allowed the same percentage of seats as the rest of the ground, which would be almost entirely filled by club members.

If, for instance, the Victorian government allowed for first-round games to be at 50 per cent capacity for both the MCG and Marvel Stadium, then the Richmond-Carlton game would likely be broken down as follows: the MCC (capacity 22,700) would have a little over 11,000, the AFL members’ area (22,000), would be about 11,000, and there would be an estimated 2000 corporate tickets.

The balance of the about 50,000 - 25,000-26,000 - allowed into the MCG would be given to the clubs’ members, with Richmond having the overwhelming share because the Tigers are the home team.

In the case of Richmond v Carlton, this could well mean there are no tickets available to non-members.

The Tigers are considering holding off the unfurling of their last two premiership flags because of COVID restrictions on the crowds.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said he wanted as many Richmond fans as possible at the ground to enjoy the unfurling of two flags.

“We’d like to think there’d be a lot,” Gale told 3AW Sportsday.

“Clearly it’s a really proud moment and we want to share that with as many members and fans as possible.″⁣

After the opening game against Carlton, Richmond play an away game against Hawthorn in round two, before hosting Sydney at the MCG in round three.

“We’re hoping for 50 per cent capacity. That would lend itself to a fairly sizeable crowd, so we are planning along those lines but I’m not sure that’s going to be the case,” Gale said.

“We just need to watch and wait. We want to share this moment with as much of the Richmond family as possible. It may be round one possibly, but it may not.”

The same ticketing arrangement as for the opening game is expected to apply to Collingwood v Western Bulldogs, although there will be much less demand for that game than Richmond v Carlton, which is the first game that fans of those clubs have been able to attend (not counting AFLW games) in Melbourne since 2019, the first game for the Tiger army since both their 2019 and 2020 premierships due to the coronavirus-interrupted 2020 season......

I’m not sure how many tickets we will get access to for round 1. Can’t see the Pies members leaving too many after the MCC and AFL members take their share.

The AFL has set crowd limits of 50 per cent capacity for Victorian footy venues for the opening rounds of the season.

The MCG will welcome 50,000 fans for the Carlton v Richmond season opener, while Marvel Stadium will allow 28,961 people in the stands starting with the practice match between Carlton and St Kilda next week, on Thursday March 4.

No crowd capacity was announced for Geelong’s GMHBA Stadium or Ballarat’s Mars Stadium.

The AFL said home club members would receive priority ticket access, but it was up to clubs how they split those between their membership categories.

Away club members will also receive priority after the home club members, and if there’s any tickets left, the general public will be given access.

“On behalf of the AFL I would like to thank the Victorian State Government, specifically Premier Daniel Andrews, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula and Minister for Health Martin Foley for working with us in allowing fans to get back to the footy,” AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said.

“Footy fans in Victoria have been excited about getting back to matches and we have seen that with great numbers across the opening rounds of the AFLW season.

“We haven’t had footy crowds this big in Victoria since the match to support Bushfire Relief in February last year, so today’s announcement provides a big boost for our players and fans in the leadup to the season.

“Our team has been working extensively behind the scenes planning for multiple scenarios and all our venues will be ready to welcome fans back into the stands come next month.”

The AFL has been in consultation with the state government for many weeks over crowd figures and in an ideal world might have hoped for a 75 per cent capacity.

AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan had been keen to get as many fans into grounds as possible given South Australia, NSW and Queensland venues have 75 per cent or more capacity.

But the recent five-day lockdown and Friday’s two cases of transmission highlight the importance of following safety protocols and will ensure crowds of 50,000 at the MCG and around 25,000 at Marvel Stadium.

New Cats president Craig Drummond told the Herald Sun recently that 50 per cent crowds would not be a good financial outcome for the season

“Most clubs would struggle to break even at 50 per cent or less in crowds. You need higher numbers,” Drummond said.

“50 per cent crowds would be satisfactory for the home tenants of the MCG but 50 per cent at GMHBA Stadium is a bit tough.

“Clearly the main thing everyone will look at in the short term is the Australian Open and seeing how 50 per cent crowds worked.”

Tickets on sale for Dogs’ AAMI Series match


Tickets for the Western Bulldogs’ 2021 AAMI Community Series match against Melbourne will go on sale on Monday 1 March, as announced by the AFL today.


Bulldog members and AFL members will receive priority access to ticket sales from 12pm on Monday, while the general public will be able to purchase from 3pm.

Members will receive free entry to these games, however will still be required to redeem a ticket via ticketmaster.com.au for entry as part of the venue’s COVID-safe plan.

For the general public, tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concession.

Children aged under 15 are free, but will still require a ticket to enter the venue.

The match itself will be held on Monday, 8 March at Marvel Stadium, with the first bounce at 3.10pm AEDT.
