Let's start here.
https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/teams/afl
With the start of the 2021 season a few weeks away, then perhaps by now months after the draft, we might actually have some info and **** me some photos of the new recruits?

I don't see what the problem is.

Can't speak to how efficiently they're managed but aren't all the club websites outsourced to the same mob that runs AFEL.com? ... which explains plenty.

If you look at the other websites, they are all set out the same

I randomly checked 4 other club websites. 2 seemed to have all the player photos up and be complete and 2 looked like ours with missing photos. All the websites certainly look the same so it may well be something out of our control.

And the email messages we get from Bulldog central are almost exactly the same as my daughter gets from Dockers. Similar days/times etc

Sooo.
Does this mean we are off the hook then? Everyone else is crap so it's ok if we are as well?
I know that isn't what you meant but if we are paying an external company to do it then...DONT PAY THEM until it is fixed. There is responsibility here to put up a good product...it's not like we can actually go to the club.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is very poor that they haven't updated something as simple as the draftees photos. I certainly have also been a vocal critic of the lack of engagement and information coming forth from the club at times.
However I get believe that the websites across the league are run by AFL HQ (or a company engaged by them). Obviously the clubs play a major role in providing content, but I am unsure how it all works. I don't know who is to blame, but it may well not be the club on this occasion.

I think it is also a matter of timing. If you want the latest breaking news, there is no doubt: ignore the club website and go to WOOF. I am not sure if news has to be vetted first on the club site, but WOOF is always first with the news, or rumours too. :-)

Correct. Basically the AFL control the content/running of the clubs' websites through a company called AFLMedia.com which is more or less run by Telstra. It uses Telstra media content and the clubs can take it (use Telstra/AFLMedia.com) or leave it(not have anything)
Essendon used to be the outlier and run their own club website but from what I can see the AFL run all 18 clubs websites now. I'm not sure when it changed.

Same with memberships and buying tickets you get redirected to Ticketmaster but a bulldog type homepage.

I tried to contact the Bulldogs using the phone no. on the website yesterday (when my link to the streaming of the game hadn't arrived) and it was the old 1300 GO DOGS number still, which doesn't work any more. So they can't even get the contact details correct on the Club website!!!
Pretty sure our photos haven't been updated because we haven't done our 2021 photoshoots yet.

It is the same every year.

They have the recruits, but not the draftees. Perhaps they just photoshopped our trade ins from their old clubs photos?

Digital experience is horrendous. The actual content they are creating these days is brilliant. But the digital foundations of our website and overall experience is shocking.

Surely we need a new photo as the players change?

OK, but they might actually have the player info to upload?
Hell, they could just copy and paste from the WOOF player welcome threads.

I think they change the photos once the photo day is completed. What I mean is every year, the website is not updated till the photo date.
And yes DR, you would think the stats should be updated sooner

AFL website on the ball as always; 23 hours prior to opening bounce we have Sam Lloyd in a first for footy wearing 0.
