First Goal: English.

English plays his 50th game this weekend.

Gardner and Vandemeer only their 15th. Keath ticked over 50 last weekend , obviously Scott and McNeil only 2 each, and both Lipinski and Bailey Smith haven't reached 50. Just a reminder we are still a young side in terms of games played (Keath and Scott late starters).

Fun fact: Only the players that have come from other clubs, have played in a draw. Not even our older players (Libba, Wally, JJ) have played in a draw, and Luke Beveridge has never coached in a draw.

It sure has been a long time since we have played in a draw, the last being the famous Brian Lake "cramp"/Will Minson goal game v Richmond in 2008.

We still have a few years to go to surpass the longest period between draws - Round 1 1957 to round 8 1973.

Those few post1973 draws are enough to last me a lifetime.
I would not mind drawing a grand final as long as we win the replay.

I assume you were only 2 or 3 years old at round 1 1957, so you wouldn't have really seen a draw until you were 18 or 19 in 1973?

I had a choice of using my AFL membership with a ticket for level 1 but on my own, or going with others to sit on level 3. Decided to go on my own and have level one wing and no extra cost.

I don't understand why they don't have a system like the theatres to pick your seats.

Yeah, I'm reading that others got on later and managed to secure much better seats. The ticketing companies are barely above MLM pyramid schemes in terms of corporate ethics.

I waited until 1pm so I could purchase a 6-14 junior ticket along with our members seats and got row L on the wing/half forward, whereas at 10am I was getting further back and in the forward pocket.

I think some people are using their tickets as a guide only, the last 2 weeks there have been people in our seats when we arrived.

The ticketing is a disgrace, you should not be 12 rows further back than people who log on hours later.

The club should do something about this, they have to get on to the AFL and lodge an official complaint. Time to expend some energy on behalf of the members. They have the time and contacts. Have they got the guts?

We need to get into our midfielders and really challenge them to lift here. If we can do that North won't be able to get their hands on it, and when they do won't be able to move the ball through our zone.

Bruce playing well, and if we keep giving Naughton a chance he'll get on the end of a few.

Are they putting a heap of numbers back?

Not really. We are imploding under the “perceived” pressure in most situations. Over hand balling as usual putting ourselves under immense pressure. Mids have been well down (which they tend to be against lesser likes).

Treloar was awesome that quarter, but Bont, Smith, Hunter, Libba all well down.

Geez Cunnington loves playing us. And he brings an effort for the others.

I’m pretty disappointed in North Melbourne’s coaching & game plan. Making for a pretty boring spectacle and gives them zero chance at a result, won’t keep the marquee game. Ziebel behind the ball has invited the pressure onto his less experienced team mate and left them for the wolves (Laith - damn his hungry).

Lots of scrappy disposal and uncharacteristic mistakes from normally composed players yet we're up by 6 goals. If we're going to have a bad day this seems the day to do it. You also probably take the win regardless coming off a 5 day break. Maybe that's playing a part?

The best thing I can say about today is that we've really put our chances on the scoreboard, which is something we haven't always done over the years. It's an ugly game, North are, frankly, a poor team right now and we aren't being able to play the way we want to but despite that we're 6 goals up at half time.

Well that was a big win for sure. Had we kicked straight it would have been a 150 plus points win.

It was really satisfying to see Josh Bruce play so convincingly. He has copped a lot of stick on a couple of FB Forums. He marked very strongly and was hard at it when the ball hit the ground too.

Our midfield worked well to shark a lot of Goldy's hitouts in the 2nd half.

I felt Treloar was very sure handling the ball. There were a lot of fumbles by our blokes that went unpunished.

Easton Wood looked very rusty but got better as the game progressed.
Caleb Daniel kept things under control down back ably supported by Keath and Duryea. Williams was both steady and, in one play, brilliant. Bailey Dale continues to impress and z
JJ showed a bit of dash.

It was a really good win as it should have been against a North outfit that are clearly under-manned and under-performing.

It was the win we needed to have. Mission completed. Go Dogs!

I loved what I saw. It was 30 degrees, we were off a 5 day break and an exhausting contest last week, but we kept the foot on the accelerator. Yes, North are a rabble, but our pressure acts continued all night.

I said after last week that we are a team that thrives on confidence. I don’t really get the angst about us getting big headed or drinking our own bath water. We saw in 15 and 16 just how far belief takes you. Early wins on the board are worth gold, a % boost never hurts either, but most importantly beginning to realise how good they can be is so important...we have the young guys who are hungry for success and the “ oldies” who remember what it’s like. It’s been a pretty ordinary & frustrating few years seeing us battle to regain the hunger, I’m enjoying the ride.

Yeah it was pretty clear that if we kept applying pressure they'd eventually roll over, and roll over they did. I think what posters find really annoying is that it can often seem to take us a while to bring something close to our best against what we would deem lesser opponents. However what's positive in this instance is we were able to build into the game and really dominate a team we should have dominated.

I agree that belief takes you places, and in 2016 we generated that belief by hanging in there against pretty good sides with a team that was heavily impacted through injury across the season. Sure this year's start hasn't been perfect, in that we were a bit sloppy against the Pies, able to be dominated against the Eagles for a period of the game, and started slowly today but each win has had different positive aspects we can build on. For instance against the Pies we dominated possession and schooled a midfield that usually always shows up against us. We fought back from a last quarter deficit against a WCE that clearly came to play, while today we thrashed a team we should have thrashed.

I'm really looking forward to taking on Brissy next week. They'll be up and about after two solid weeks and close results, and with a backs to the wall mentality having not been able to return home for a few weeks unexpectedly. It's a game that if we account for ourselves really well in the effort department and be super competitive it will be a real positive for the group.

I mean my god what a nightmare our midfield is for oppositions. You have to tag Bont because he's close to the best mid in the comp. In order to do that you have to concede more liberty to the likes of Dunkley, Macrae, Libba, Smith and now Treloar. Good god.

Yeah I mean I don't think anyone really thought we'd lose. The concern was that we'd just repeat the first 1.5 quarters for most of the game and win by about 5-6 goals. The way North were playing I would not have been happy with that. Thankfully we stepped it up. Quite a lot.

The thing for me with JJ is his lack of composure. He just seems to always be needing to everything at 100% speed. Weirdly it's gotten worse for him when typically as you mature with the game things slow down a bit. He might just be really down on confidence. Been that way since that tagging incident sadly.

I agree. But I thought he was good in that regard today. The only one he botched was a pass inside 50. When he was running out of the back or through the middle I thought he delivered the ball forward with a lot more care and thoughtfulness. Only a sample size of 1, but given why he was dropped, today's performance suggests he's taken the feedback on board.

Yeah I agree. In some respects our loaded midfield, plus Caleb and now Williams, should help him. It'll be very hard for opposition teams to tag multiple players so he should get a fairly free run at things. He just needs to those defensive things defenders do.

Treloar. Worth every cent Collingwood is paying for him.

Thats 30 million cents its costing them a year! I did not get around to post in R2, but love how Treloar helped us win and save the $.

I admire him as a players. He has hardly played footy in last 2 years. His so strong and can stand up in a tackle. Does all the hard work in a crap midfield. If he was in our midfield he would pick up 40 possessions, probably any other team with a decent midfield.

Agree. A lot forget Travis was playing fairly well for us up to that point.

Totally agree re Ziebell- a thug of the highest order. Feel we could have gotten another few years out of Cloke and that he could have played the big bullocking forward Bruce is playing so well now.

Great presser from Bevo today. He really engaged with the young lad selected to sit with him as a representation of the children who benefit from the Good Friday Appeal.

Also really good to hear him put some perspective about the size of the win and Bruce's haul. He's pleased by how we took charge, but also understands that North are in a big rebuilding phase.
I certainly don't think we'll be getting ahead of ourselves next week against Brisbane.

That was bloody fun.

I know NM are poor but that was an absolute day out.

Watching Treloar run inside 50 and kick 2 trademark goals was electrifying and seeing Bruce dominate with 10 and a 'Brucey' chant which lasted long after the game was magical.

In the early 80's I used to mostly dread walking into school on Monday mornings, usually being on the receiving end of a walloping.
Geez its good to be on the other side.

Prior to 2016, I'd suspect this forum would be up and about following a record win.

That we're not is probably a good indication of how the bar has been raised.
Still feels good though!!

I made the call to go away for the weekend, thinking this would be a typical Dogs v North slog which we ended up winning by 4 or 5 goals. Watching the end of the match on TV, gee I wished I was there. Jumped out of my seat at the bar when Bruce took the mark for his 10th.

From what I saw, Treloar was terrific and the triple Bailey's all important. It's tough to pick clear best/worst in a 120 point win.

I also really enjoyed Lachie McNeill's snap from 40. Bit by bit he is showing us what he is capable of. I would still be happy for him to have a rest and give Cav/West an opportunity, but I can see why bevo is giving him his chance.

Yeah, McNeil needs to go out (sorry Grantysghost) but I'm really liking what he's got to work with. I think he has a bright future.

Great win, ruthless 4 quarter effort when it could’ve not been.

Contributors across the board.

Hunter not quite in rhythm with his role.
Scott did some good things but also a bit VFL-paced at times.
McNeil has some tools and will develop into a good player, but a little green and rushed.
Keath been great defensively but needs to take a simple first option. Didn’t hurt us today too much.

How good is Naughton at ground level! So fast.

Well done. Onto next week.

Relive the ten goals here (https://twitter.com/westernbulldogs/status/1378100775868456963) Last time a Bulldog kicked ten was 1987 when Beasley slammed home ten v Brisbane.

Yeah this is a rubbish game and yeah North are rubbish but for years I have hated how we've not been merciless with shit teams.
So this is pretty satisfying.

Bruce kicks his tenth - Happy Days not sure how to feel.

Nah I love Bruce. He’s been a really frustrating player to watch and definitely should have been dropped last year, but he seems like a cool guy and he’s got the kind of charisma to him that makes him really easy to get behind.

Yeah well that's kinda the position we've been in the past 2 years to be honest so not entirely sure it's a problem.

Just sat through both AFL 360 and On The Couch hoping to bathe in some Bulldogs bathwater and lo and behold, we got barely a mention. Sydney is well and truly the flavour of the month.

Not sure how you can fly under the radar after a 21 goal win, but let's just keep racking them up.

I remember the only time we really got a decent mention in 2008-2010 was when Aker was making an arse of himself. The rest of the time we were ignored.

Anyway, I've stopped watching these shows, they annoy me. Most of the time when they mention us it's half baked or cliched, but mostly inaccurate or ill-considered.

I had the last quarter of Geelong v Hawks on and left the TV on and after the game, AFL 360 came up. The first ten minutes not a word about us, and as usual Robbo was annoying me, so I switched off. LIke you, I don't watch these shows, unless someone tells me Bevo is on.

And a big forward kicked 10 goals and had 21 disposals in an era where a big forward kicking 4 goals is a great game, but how good was Heeney's 2 goals and 11 disposals!!

Happy to fly under the radar and still win games. Stick it right up ‘Em!! Love how after bemoaning a lack of mongrel we suddenly have Naughts, Vandermeer, B Smith as great supporting acts to Libba. Keath goes alright too - as you’d expect of a pissed off PE Teacher.
