The captains from the 18 AFL clubs have had their say on the 2021 season.
Ahead of the annual Captains’ Day, all club leaders have made their predictions in a number of categories.
For the TOP EIGHT (18 times seven selections), Brisbane, Geelong, Port Adelaide and Richmond lead the way with 17 nominations, ahead of West Coast and St Kilda (15), Western Bulldogs (9) and Collingwood (8).
GWS (4), Gold Coast (2), and Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, Hawthorn and Melbourne (1 each) make up the numbers with no votes for North Melbourne.
Which other club is most likely to reach the GRAND FINAL?
Reigning premiers Richmond landed 7 votes ahead of Brisbane (5), Port Adelaide (3), Geelong (2) and West Coast (1).
The selections for the 2021 BROWNLOW MEDAL were also made.
Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli landed on top with 6 ahead of Carlton’s Patrick Cripps and Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe (3 each) and Brisbane’s reigning champ Lachie Neale (2).
Richmond’s Dustin Martin, Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines, Hawthorn’s Jaeger O’Meara and the Bulldogs’ Jack Macrae all attracted one vote each.
In the COLEMAN MEDAL category, last year’s winner Tom Hawkins got 8 votes, clear of Port’s Charlie Dixon (4), new Cat Jeremy Cameron and new Lion Joe Daniher (2 each), with Sydney pair Tom Papley and Lance Franklin on one apiece.
And the RISING STAR, according to the skippers, will go to Gold Coast’s Matt Rowell who attracted 13 votes.
Swans youngster Logan McDonald, North’s Tom Powell and no.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan all got one vote each.
