Tomorrow? Do we normally 'train' on the morning of the game?

We should have been training today.

Don't know what is going on. Ralphy saying they can't/

It was supposed to be just a captains run to stretch the legs.

That's why you don't leave it to the coach to have to do it. He's the conduit to the players.

A statement from the CEO/ president is highly appropriate, unless they've been asked not to comment by Bevo himself.

Its appropriate if you think you can change the result. If not, then it just adds fuel to the fire for doubters..in my opinion.
I was a bit surprised Bevo even mentioned it... wait til after. Just keep meting out the line that 'its' comical, we know everyone is doing it tough, if anything will galvanise the group even more.' which by and large is was Bevo did.

AFL has come out and bowed to their game sponsoring overlords in SA Govt.. by backing their decision...... the fix is in. AFL only want to get the games away... they don't care if its actually fair. So in that case you're on a hiding to nothing if you squawk about it too loudly. It can only have the potential to produce negative results.

Win, then damn all of them to hell publicly afterwards.

Isn't funny how there is no mention at all about our training ban on the AFEL's website. I think this is actually pretty big news myself. Nothing but chirping crickets coming from the AFEL and even our President. WTF is going here. We are playing in a AFL prelim final ffs. Somebody other than Bevo has to come in and bat for us.

If we by some miracle we get up and win this game then the GF and our President suddenly finds a voice I will spew up!

The league did release a statement backing the SA government, I get the feeling they’re none too happy with Bevo’s outburst.

To steal a phrase from SonOfScray, the AFL are pig scum.

David King mentioned that Melbourne had a hard scratch match during their week off (so much so they lost Joel Smith to injury) and questioned whether Port took it too easy during their break.

I wonder how we approach the break and how we plan on maintaining the rage leading into the GF week.

The scratch match might be real but there’s actually no way that Smith injury happened.

I’m hoping we rest up. We’ve played 11 or 12 games since the bye and we structured the boys break and I’m not sure we gave it back thinking of the end of season bye. With games in WA, GCS, Hawks in Tassie in the H&A plus Tassie, Brisbane, Adelaide and now Perth.

Get them cherry ripe physically. Spend the time working on boys mindset, have different GF experiences inform the group (Duryea, Treloar and the 2016 crew) and spend more time on walking the boys through the broad strategy and specific roles. Sure there’s enough time in 7 days to do that. But I think the game could be won or lost between the ears so normal sessions, so it seems like a better use of time, as well as lots of massage, physio and rehab of any niggles. I don’t think hard sessions or spirited scratch matches are the answer for our boys and the context of the last four months.

That’s my take.

They should make them watch the Karate Kid before the game like our under 11s coach made us before a grand final. The lesson of Danny LaRusso being hurt, but fighting back didn't help us that day however I'm sure our guys would get something out of it.

Come to think of it, just before the boys run out Bevo should definitely play Mariah Carey's Hero, start crying telling the lads they're his heroes like my under 16s coach did before an elimination final. Whilst it didn't spur us on to win the match that day I'm sure our boys would appreciate it.

Nah that was Eddie Guerrero.

I'm pretty sure Daniel-San ended the fight with a head kick, which is explicitly said at the start to be illegal.

The only thing Eddie Guerrero ever did against the rules was everything.

I have a ticket for Friday.

In terms of other training this week, the session was YESTERDAY (Monday) at Lathlain. This event was not open to the public and a few extra levels of subterfuge were added to ensure no-one got in.

I'm not really sure what to tell you guys but 'the word' from a couple of people who happened to be in attendance on Monday was "they're done" as in, that's the last training session for the year...

If there were any secrets available I doubt anyone (with the obvious exception of the Talia family) would know what they are.

Hey Everyone.

I also attended training yesterday with my two boys (19 and 14) and my mum (in her mid 70's). It was an amazing day in terms of weather - I parked on the western side of the ground (over the river) and we walked over Mantagarup bridge together...it was pretty windy out and I am expecting similar today. I wanted to walk over the bridge to try and recreate the walk from the city to the 'G I took with my son (the now 19 yo) and daughter (now 23) the day before the GF in 2016.

I wasn't interested in watching Melbourne train - though I was interested to see all the Melbourne supporters practising leaving the stadium early whilst the Dogs fans (and players) were motivated to stay to the end.

I know the MCG is an amazing stadium and I have a lot of great memories of watching the 'Dogs play from our old seats on the wing (level 1) at Docklands but Optus really is a pretty great place to watch footy. I sat in the same seats yesterday as I will today and what can I tell you, the venue is not as good as the WA premier keeps insisting but it is very good.

To all of you stuck in Melbourne I really hope things get better for you soon. It really hit me yesterday just how many people are being denied this opportunity - not that I'm not happy to be able to attend without the added extras of plane tix and accomodation and all the stuff that goes with that...just that I remember the scenes from the Whitten oval on 'the day after' and yesterday was just not like that. I mean, I am sure there were Dogs (and maybe even Melbourne fans?? Do they actually exist??) there but I saw more West Coast jumpers coupled with Bulldogs/Demons scarves than I did white robodog jumpers (aka the worst jumper in the world!) which always seem to get a run in Melbourne. I watched the full squad training and watched Bailey Smith and Caleb Daniel not even join in with the 'pre-session' jog (what's with that btw) and I swear no-one at the ground even knew the short bloke next to 'baz' was Caleb...I mean, he wears a helmet right?

I don't know. I'm literally crapping myself about the result of this game, I wish all my Melbourne "Dogs mates" who adopted me whilst I was in town for a few years and gave me a crew to watch the footy with could be there (they 100% deserve it at least as much as I do) and somehow it isn't going to feel quite right...

.it was pretty windy out and I am expecting similar today.

Hey MJP, does the wind get into the ground at all, or is it sheltered?

PS: I still owe you a beer after you shouted one. Hopefully next GF.

Go Dogs!! and have a great day.
