Had one of them before, not fun looking down and seeing the bone in your finger sticking out through a hole.

Williams only 3 weeks. What happened to the 10 week rumuor, including the subsequent trip to Europe to have special treatment undertaken on the injury. Or is the club trying to provide us with some positive spin on the injury.

They are not the most accurate of reports.

LOL too true.

Gia's lack of prescence on that list is heartening.

Fingers crossed he is good to go Sunday.

Would it still be a brave move to play him. I'm a fan of Gia's and would like to think he will have a solid season but there would have to be a question mark on his ability to play a near full game.

I just had a look at Injury Update (http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/afl.php)...

Williams is down as Round 4 return. With a footnote saying... Has damaged a tendon and won't return to Round 4 at the earliest.

Gia is also on there as a Round 4 return and sustained a partial ACL.

So many different reports floating about.

Half a game from Gia would still be worth having him in the side. The alternative would be Addison, Callen or Tiller.

According to this article, he has declared himself available...

Giansiracusa over injury, ready for opener (http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/giansiracusa-ready-for-opener/2008/03/16/1205602196715.html)
The Age
March 17

WESTERN Bulldogs utility Daniel Giansiracusa has declared himself available for round one.

Giansiracusa was one of several senior Bulldogs who played in the heat yesterday at Sandringham.

They were given AFL permission to play in the week ahead of the regular season start, with the Bulldogs playing for new VFL affiliate Williamstown against the Sandringham side.

It was the second game back for Giansiracusa, who partially tore the anterior cruciate ligament in a knee before Christmas but avoided reconstruction surgery that would have ruined his 2008.

"I'm available, obviously it's up to the coaches, we've had guys in form," he said. "I've sort of dodged a bullet with the knee, if it takes a couple of rounds to get in, then so be it.

"It was hot, that's an understatement, … it was obviously scrappy, but the intensity was up, which is I suppose what everyone wanted — just a bit of a hitout and conditioning."

Tiller may offer some flexibility up back if things go pear shaped..

If it came down to it I would play Gia in front of the other 2.

Tiller might be there anyway with a huge doubt over Lake.

That was a BF rumour. The club always said depending on the scan, 3 to 4 weeks.

No where. Considering he hasn't played in the last month would make him doubtful.

Is a partially fit/underdone Lake > Tiller?

Is a partially fit/underdone Lake > Tiller?

We have the whole season, so we should play Lake only if fit.

Is a partially fit/underdone Lake > Tiller?

Definately.

The only question would be Lake's ability to make it through the game without hurting himself any more.

Have a feeling Everitt will be longer than Williams.
My father went to training today and says he is still in a leg brace.

are we talking the full metal type brace?

it took me a good 16 weeks to be back to playing after doing my mcl late last year.

granted i didn't have the benefit of daily physio and medical attention, and i didn't rush back either. I was running again after about 8 weeks but putting that ligament and the quad muscle under stress by changing direction was a problem for a while.

For a footballer, without surgery i've heard them get back 7-8 weeks for a mcl.

there can also be complications. He's not particularly strong looking in the quads, he may be succeptable to patella dislocation. Being stuck in a brace he may not of been using his quad muscles at all therefore he will get a bit of muscle loss, which is where the above problem occurs.

it will all depend on andrejs powers of healing. I would of thought by now he would be walking and running in straight lines anyway.

Yes the metal above and below the knee with the supportive straps etc. It obviously really inhibited his walking.

IIRC we now have the following out injured:

Draft pick #4, 2003

Draft pick #6, 2004

Our first round pick, 2005

Our first round pick, 2006

A fair bit of talent albeit undeveloped on the sidelines there.

Also the scope for this team to be a lot better later in the year.
