Bankers & Anchors: Rnd 7, 2022 vs Essendon

This is the Round 7, 2022 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once the game against Essendon is concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Bankers
1. Bailey Dale was AA last year, he is even better this year.
2. Dunkley had a fine 100th game.
3. We can kick straight and thankfully McNeill can actually kick over 25m.

Anchors
1. Stef Martin, great team player, gives his all but is at the very end of his career.
2. Cordy, must surely be a Bevo favorite to retain his place week after week.

Bankers

Our small defenders were the main point of difference in the game, collectively they were superb
Naughton 0 goals but a massive 4 goal assists, brought the other forwards into the play
Dunkley's contested work around the ground was outstanding
Fourth banker for good measure: Bont back to his best at the centre clearances, a joy to watch

Anchors

Vandermeer spoiling Naughton
Cordy spoiling Bontempelli
Baz & McComb, their untidy disposals cost us at times

Bankers

1. Shout out to Ed, taking them on, running bouncing and finding a players further up the field. This has been one of my criticisms in the past few weeks ie other than Dale, the backline not moving the ball quick enough.

2. Naughton's goal assists was fantastic to see - bringing in the smaller players into the game.

3. Dunks 16, Bont 14 Cont.poss. this was the difference.

Anchors

1. the first half inside 50s - should have yielded more goals, but the entries were not very good.

2. AFL and stupid stand rule - this is not football, just a joke.

3. Supporters for not showing up. The ground should have been packed out
