Tom Boyd was a retaliatory strike after Griffen walked so isn’t included. This list is a list of players we thought about and then went about securing Independent of our players leaving. Players we targeted to come to the club.
Essentially, the comparison is if we were a club with a hard and fast rule that we ‘develop our own talent, not trade in’.
Special Hindsight Hero Mention:
After Stringer was traded out, we had Picks 25, 28 and 30 and all Future Picks. We then did a trade to get Schache and the pick for Ed Richards, but also gave back a future Second pick, which was Will Hamill.
If we used the picks (forgoing Schache and later Richards), the picks were (25) Noah Balta, (28) Sam Taylor and (30) Tom De Koning, (Fut 2nd) Will Hamill.
Balta up Forward or Back, Taylor at Full Back, De Koning Second Ruck and Hamill off HBF for not having Richards, would be pretty handy players. Then I imagine we wouldn't have put up two Second Rounders this year to get Lobb, and would be then investing them in the next two drafts or targeting trades for other player types such as small forwards.
