Besides Greene their forward line doesn't look overly threatening... not withstanding our ability to make average forwards better, but their defence has been super strong recently with Taylor just about the best KPD going around... well the stats say he is as across 2023 he's won just over 60% of his 1 on 1 contests, and only lost 7%.

No I think the motherhood statement in this instance is fine. Split the list down the middle, making sure we keep Bont, and literally break them up, they're no good for each other. It's clear they're no good for each other.

Did not capitalise on our opportunities early on in the game which would have blown it out. They started to come into it as the game went on and we began to panic going the other way when they started to capitalise.

Bitterly disappointing and now we need to rely on results going our way to stay in the 8. Tigers game next week another elimination final type.

Owned a half each.
A little toe poke or shove forward at a stoppage late went to the attacking side for Giants and they had 3 guys on their own.
That's the gamble and when it pays off you look amazing.
I really enjoyed the game. Obviously not the result, however I'm realistic about how we measure up.

We are 5-10 side who need to take their chances and get some luck.

Losing 2 keys will hurt any side.

I get it's all VDM's fault. I do.

It just seemed (from 5000kms away) that we had control around the contest...then we didn't. GWS dug in/marshalled the troops and we waited for something to happen.

We can blame goal-kicking I guess...but they missed sitters as well (Kingsley was chuckling away after TG missed from 10m out for goodness sake).

Reality: Ward, Coniglio, Kelly and Callaghan (with assists from Ash and Whitfield) smoked Bont, Liber, Macrae and Treloar (with assists coming from Dale and JJ) - after half-time it was a smashing...they were tearing down the ground ball in hand and we were watching them.

That's the game right there. We can blame peripheral players - and I get it, there were some unbelievably strange efforts - but this one come down to their best against our best and they got the job done.

Think Duryea had him for most of the day, but I wouldn't really put a heap of blame on him, Greene started to get busy when our structure dissipated after losing Keath and Bruce. Thought Duryea had a stellar first half to be honest.

Technically Duryea but at the same time the layer of defenders up the ground are just as much to blame for much of it. While I said you can't let Greene get goalside, at some point you have to make a call as to whether you push up to the carrier/ moving ball or hold your ground.

Even with 10 players in the fwd 50, we were still unable to hold the ball in and stop them from running it out. What we would do to have a Pickett/Cameron type player.

Ugh. Turned the game on at about half time, watching from the start as I’d seen the score on the app and thought it might be a fun game to watch from first bounce. That third quarter was about as dispiriting as I have seen. To let Toby Greene kick four in a quarter. To piss away another brilliant opening quarter. To just fail to put them away after such good marks from our forward line. This team seems tailor made to disappoint.

Small mercies, Bont was brilliant before he was tagged out of the game. Dale incredible. Libba too. Thought the forward line moved well and generated a lot of marks. Their kicking still sucks, but they seem to have solved the pack mark problem.

Must admit I’m pretty checked out of this season. Too many games like this one.

Didn't see the game but hardly need to in order to know what went down. Same old crap I imagine.

The context of finals makes the loss frustrating but otherwise I'm not too upset. The faster it's apparent this system isn't capable the better. We need a change asap. Making finals to be dumped relatively easily like last season just keeps the circus going longer. It's been 2yrs of the same old rubbish being dished up. We're still losing for the same reasons. When will enough be enough?

In the third they kicked every snap. They took their chances and also got us out the back when it looked like we would get an almost certain goal. Our hunt for a goal into the wind is what cost us goals at the other end deep into that third quarter. It was a game of inches in those moments. It killed us.

But. Again. Exactly like the Swans game. Cody has a chance to put us two goals up in a tight last quarter. He misses an easy snap. It’s those 50/50 moments that cost you the game.

We are now 3-3 in the last six games. With the three losses by 2, 5 and 12.

Not one free to a forward for an entire game? I watched last night Curnow get five free kicks. We got 10 free kicks for the game today. It was umpired completely different. Not saying it cost us the game. But how can the game look so different in the space of 24 hours?

They pushed and shoved to get intercept marks and block well all day. But one infringement? Not a single free all day to a forward? Does anyone recall a free anywhere near our goals?

I honestly didn't see many they deserved to be honest. Our forward entries were very ordinary after the first half. A defender's dream

I am still livid that we lost our best key defender to a dangerous kick and nothing was done about it. With LJ back there we win against Sydney & the Great Waste of Space.

You're a good supporter mate, I wish I could be as positive as you. I've sacked the entrire team, coaching panel and all office staff in my head. I can't even think about salvaging this season, I wish I could.
