2 - Harbrow
On that note, if Harbrow continues to acquit himself well over the next fortnight he's going to force an interesting selection quandry once Westy's ready to resume. Addison's the likely victim, but one suspects Eagleton would be wanting to have a pronounced impact versus our next couple of opponents.

4. Griffen - thought he was the match winner, although went missing for too long at times.
3. Akermanis - used the ball well and his finishing was great as always
2. Cross - thought he worked very hard and became more important as others tired around him.
1. Minson - his best game for the club just about, few good marks, good tap work and goals.
2. Griffen
1. Harbrow

4- Akermanis (crucial in crucial moments)
3- The saxophonist Will Minson (best game ever seen him play)
2- Callan (purely for guts alone)
1- Lake (was good but didn't have Lloyd to contain)
2- Habrow
1- Griffen

1.Minson, I think he has finally got the confidence to know he can play, and i still believe it was that mark in the pack and goal on the angle last week that started it.
2 Griffen
1 Harbrow
Harbrow is starting to look comfortable in our first 22 now.
I dont know others peoples thoughts but Hudsons 2nd efforts are enormous and he does create and deliver well considering the pressure he is under with so many around the ball in ruck contests.

Not too sure about the pups? Griff an obvious first but I wouldn't rate Harbrows game as a vote getter, and aside from Hill/Addison, unsure who else is counted?

This week is hard to do...I thought they were equally as good and equally as bad in patches.
4. Griffen- Went missing at times but I thought he was there when required
3. Cross- Typical game by Crossy, his efforts were everywhere.
2. Callan- his toughness was excellent. There's no flash about him which I love to see in a player, he just does his job and does it well.
1. Akermanis- Did the job when required, he was very good at times.
I thought Hudson was very good as well.
2. Griffen
1. Hill

Seriously you are doing a great job with this but the James votes are a bit of a waste of time. There is only one guy in the first 22 and that is Griffen so he gets a game every week, maybe Williams when he comes back in but it's going to be a bit of an anti-climax. I'm with Coon on this one, don't see the point in voting for it in the future.

Well then don't vote for it. It's not like you have to.
I'm sure later in the season there will be more to choose from. Everitt and Williams won't be far away and then there will be 5 or 6 to select from. Shame Higgins got injured because he would be in the mix most weeks.

I don't think they are a waste of time it is entirely your choice if you want to vote in that category. As GVG pointed out in his post a few players will come into the mix and whilst a lot of the pups don't get a mention in the Marmo often by them getting votes in the James gives you get some idea of where some of them are at.
We ran this WPA last year and everyone voted in both categories - but by all means vote in whatever category suits you best.

With Addison, Higgins, Everitt, Hill, Harbrow, Lynch, Williams, Griffin, Tiller and Ray all competing it should/would be a good contest if not for injuries.

4. Aker - just stands up when we need him - and did it emphatically this week. So calm under pressure.
3. Griffen - Able to impose himself on the game in different stages.
2. Cross- Worked really hard as usual. Was very brave in the tough contests.
1. Minson - the big minnow stood up when it had to be won and did some very good work.
Cooney, Boyd, Callan, Hudson - all were terrific.

Just an observation and far be it for me to question any ones votes but I am surprised to see Minson being mentioned.
He was good but I think there was about 8 players ahead of him. His defensive effort against Hille just before half time that resulted in an easy mark and goal is one of the reasons why I couldn't get him that close to a vote.

I didn't vote for Will either, but if a player tends to have a BIG last quarter, it sticks in the memory bank a bit more than someone who had a BIG first quarter.

This round was very difficult as we had no 4 quarter players:
4 Cross
3 Akermanis
2 Lake
1 Griffen
Probably only really Cooney in line outside of those 4, but special mention to Callan who while not outstanding did some very brave work, backing back with the flight of the ball.
2 Griffen
1 Harbrow

1. Cross - always delivers
2. Aker - having good year so far
3. Griff - starting to get consistant
4. Coon - Also starting to find the ball more often then not.
2. Griffen
1. Harbrow - Starting to show some good things.. i was a little worried about Harbrow when we got him but hes getting there.

Question for all, i wonder if it was Aker who did it and not Will we would be praising Aker more.
I think Minson deserves a bit more of a thank you as i think he had a lot to do with winning the game, he stood up and was there when he was needed.
Great stuff Will and as i said in a previous post, the mark he took in the pack the week before has changed him in a big way, he now knows he can do it, and friday night was a start of him getting better all the time.
But dont think i fitted him in my votes either.
I agree Coon Dog, but it was a great quarter from him anyway.

Can't blame people for being excited by Big Will. We have exciting players but he's a different sort of exciting. Just thinking about him is getting me pumped (that sounds worse than i intended:D).
Over the pre-season and this season's games he has maintained a steady rate of improvement and that is very encouraging.
