Let us know the 3 new things you learned from our game tonight against Carlton?

1. Liam Jones is a great addition to the backline and Ryan Gardner gets few possessions but spoils with intent.
2. Matthew Owies is modelling himself on Tom Papley. They both think they are the greatest gift to Australian rules in its 160 year or so history.
3. Cody Weightman stands 179cm not 197cm, he needs to be a crumber like Scott and Arthur Jones.

1. Pulling your jumper does make you more in love with your team.
2. Duryea won't be playing forward any time soon.
3. If all of our fringe players can contribute like Scott we will go deep.

1. Bailey is a very good linking wingman - 12 marks speaks to his ability to present to the ball carrier
2. Marra is growing all the time. Some really nice little moments here and there
3. Ed Richards may get an AA jumper this year

1. Cody Weightman moving into the middle for the last 10-15 minutes was a game changer. I think Arty also pushed higher, and it gave us some real vibrancy around the contests.

2. Owies and Curnow really wanted to convince themselves that they care about the Carlton Football Club. Save the jumper tugging bulls*** for your round 23 choke.

3. Bailey Smith is vital to us when he runs and carries and kicks the ball well. It was his best game in a long time.

1. Overall, Carlton are not very good

2. A. Jones is now our best pressure forward

3. Lobb = wing has outdone usual mad Bevo, but worked. Wish I could get the drugs the MC are on.

1. Incorrect disposal doesn't exist anymore - so many times Carlton were caught but no free

2. Typical Carlton celebrating thinking they won - Hate that club

3. We have a very good defensive system working

Pretty sure Curnow did a 720 and it was play on.

Crazy.

1. Defencive game going really well. We pressured the loose ball at the expense of some contested positioning and were able to create dirty entrances early

2. Lobb is becoming a good acquisition and is the only tall forward who seems to play a dedicated team game by clearing out and presenting up. His long kicking is excellent when on. Naughton on the other hand needs to stop trying to be the main man all the time and actually either block for his team mate in better position, or clear the contest and stay in the area to get next hands on the spill. It's really annoying, he's going to either get hurt, hurt someone and also continue to cost us marks in dangerous positions

3. This team is growing in spirit. The run-ons are frustrating and we'd all prefer they didn't happen, but there's been games this year where we've responded as well as we possibly could

1. Taylor Duryea may be a footballing genius. Assuming that miss in the last was a Steele sidebottom style behind.

2. Ed Richards needs to be in AA conversation.

3. Liam Jones and Ryan Gardner are crucial for our endeavours this year.

1. Caleb Daniel is working as a midfielder. He is staying one or two steps defensive side of the stoppage and we are now using him as the get out option and it is working a treat.

2. Bailey Smiths run and carry was superb. At times he was matched against Cripps and Walsh and used his offensive running as a real weapon. If he can start sticking his tackles he will go to the next level.

3. Gee Bailey Williams signature is becoming more and more important by the week.

JJ is a HBF
Even when quiet Bont racks up the numbers
Bont 10 tackles, Cripps and Curnow zero.
Our indigenous 3 Jamarra , Jones and Jones are extremely important to our team.

1/ With Treloar out we needed a big game from Baz and he delivered in spades…. And more so late when his run busted Carlton’s spirits.

2/ Ed Richards continues to impress… becoming confident with ball in had and strong in the air.

3/ The O’Donnell inclusion intrigued me at the time and I still have NFI why he was picked… talk about setting someone up to fail.

1. Was good to see some new suspects shine - Bailey Smith, Scott - whilst the usual suspects got it done - Macrae, Bont, J, Richards, Daniel etc

2. The news this week will be how Carlton couldn?t convert rather than the dogs grinding them down through defensive pressure

3. Arty Jones might just be that bolt of lightening we?ve all been waiting for so long down there. Loved his game

Bonus?.

4. Never thought we?d be 6-3 after round 2

1. They CAN jump start the motor when it stalls. I hate that we keep having these massive runs of goals conceded, but at the least in the last fortnight we?ve been able to settle and hold them off for long enough, or fire up again and get the scoreboard ticking over.

2. When we have the right mix defensively, and the midfield applies the requisite physical pressure, our system can be really stifling, like it was in 2016. It wasn?t always effective, but the repeat efforts and physical squeeze we put on the contest was a foundation for the win.

3. JUH played well and could have had an even bigger impact if he was a bit more hungry in front of goal and secure with the footy. His work up the field was superb, he seemed surprised when the ball got to him deep a few times. Want him to put those opportunities in the bank.what I am taking away from that is he can still grow that aggressive component to his game in close.

1. Naughton is a massive headache for defenders, which is why he is usually triple teamed. If he doesn't mark (or spoils it for someone else :p ) he follows through with multiple creative efforts.

2. At least one TWIN is staking his claim on permanent 22.

3. Arty is not only joyful, but smart, quick and courageous!

1. Don't agree to meet up with an old mate, back for a month from the UK, at the G for a twilight game then have a meal afterwards, when the 'dogs are playing at night.
2. Don't follow the live score on your iPhone during a meal.
3. Don't positively contribute to the 3 Things thread next day.

So I won't and don't.

1. The announcement that it’s ok scrag Aaron Naughton all night, and the new edict that HTB doesn’t exist, really flew under the radar.

2. We’re building very strong defensive foundations, which are important at the pointy end of the season. Our forward work, and forward entries, often let us down, though I’m not sure which is driving which. It was a surprise we rattled on those last minute goals because we’d gone back to the tried and not so true method of bomb it to a lot of tall dudes.

3. This is a new maturity and a further development in Bevo the coach. The way things have been rebuilt since we were down and out in round two has been quite spectacular and speaks of someone willing to adapt and rejig which haven’t historically been his strong points. Even hopefully for good, abandoning the blind faith in Hannan and McComb. (BUT the JOD selection wasn’t his finest moment).

Patience. Look at Jones' 6 games. Bev ordinarily gives debutants at least 3 weeks. Whilst he's coached only 1 AFL Premiership than you or me, I still reckon he knows what he's doing.

Tend to agree, with a caveat that he still needs to maintain the results and performance against teams that are in form and up the pointy end.

1. I will and the team will miss Liber when he retires. He is a GUN

2. Glad we were patient with Arty

3. Bailey Williams season has been very solid and pretty much gone under the radar. Becoming an important cog. Hope we sign him up soon.

Be nice to see him paid some of the free kicks that he?s owed down there. The manhandling and chopping of the arms is outrageous.

Credit to him that he is the competitive beast that he is and has such impact at ground level.
