This is the Round 21, 2023 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once this afternoons game against Hawthorn is concluded please post your nominations for:
The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play
Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.
Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

Bankers
Perhaps just Bont, Richards, Jones
Anchors
Libba's unfortunate injury, may well have cost us the game.
Weightman and A Jones just there for frequent flyer points today, total non-contributors.
Naughton's goalkicking overall is below par, I don't care how many speccies he takes.

Bankers apart from Bont?s 1st qtr and last 15 mins trying to drag us across the line (again):
1) West cementing best 22
2) Poulter standing up towards end - well done young lad when others were close to no shows
3) Richards trying to be creative
Anchors:
1) When Hawks were playing keeping?s off or blitzing us with clever angle changes why we didn?t adjust to playing man on man,
2) Seemingly changing little or nothing in mid field after Libba went down - for goodness sake try something different when it?s not working-try Caleb, Williams, Weightman and especially West
3) English?s poor tap ruckwork
4) Bonus anchor-we look sooooo slow

Anchors
- Umpires inability to pay a holding the ball or a throw free kick to us
- our tackling was pathetic
- slow stale ball movement
- not taking chances when we had them
- Libba being knocked out
- Bailey Smith just being there

Bankers
Richards had a go, even if he stuffed up a couple of times.
JOD seems to instinctively know what to do, both defensively and with the ball. This is in sharp contrast with Keath.
Lobb played quite well, and is a better ruckman than English.
Anchors
Our tackling was mostly really, really poor.
Very few players aside from Richards had a go, Poulter was okay.
English is not a good ruckman.

Bankers
1. Baker - Great goal from the boundary line
2. Richards - tried his guts out and was our BOG
3. Naughton - terrific powerful mark.
Anchors
1. Richards - once more giving away a goal by poor kicking - when you lose by 5 points these hurt
2. Naughton - yeah great mark, but attempting around the corner kick in windy conditions - very dumb
3. As AshMac said, the HTB rule is now a joke. Spin your opponent around 3 times, throw the ball, hand the ball over to your team mate are now all part of footy
