View Full Version : Player numbers for the 2024 season

After our list changes we currently have the following numbers available for our incoming players
#9, #16, #17, #22 , #27, #29, #37 #40 and #41
I'm assuming our 1st pick at the draft this year should probably get jumper #9
Jordan Croft should get his fathers #16 jumper
We will have to wait and see who else comes in to see if there are some logical matches but the other consideration is the AFL want clubs to use past players to present the jumpers to players. I'm sure we can find some former greats to come in and do that.
For of nostalgia how good would it be for Dougie Hawkins to present a jumper Jordan Croft or Brad Johnson for the likes of Nick Watson or Ryley Sanders?
Could Lindsay Gilbee to hand the #9 to our first pick and what a nice touch that would be if it was Ryley Sanders given Gilbee found links to his indigenous background and so has Sanders.
Any suggestions?

I'll defer to Ross Christinsan.
And 22 should be handed over by Ted Whitten Jr.

Given seniority and early access, I’d imagine Harmes and Coffield get access to early numbers. Say Harmes 9 and Coffield 17. I’d imagine the club is keeping 16 aside for Croft if he wants it. Likely leaves our top pick with 22 or something in that range.
Do the AFL want this to happen on the night/s of the draft? because we’re not going to know what numbers the players we select will want, so I can’t imagine there’ll be any relation between who hands out the jumper and the eventual player number.
Clearly though if our top pick is getting 22, club legend Mitch Honeychurch is on the dais.

What about Twodogs presents the #22 to Ben Harrison who can then in turn present it to the new player.

Came from North Melbourne. I don't know that he went alright as Ledge said (I think the passage of time has him looking back with rose coloured glasses) but there used to be two homemade signs on the fence. If he wasn't playing it said "Put Brian Perrin In The Seniors" and if he was playing it said "Keep Brian Perrin In The Seniors"
We used to think it must have been his mum who put them there

He has certainly been less likely to concede a goal with an error.

You would think Sanders would get 9 as Gilbee handed him the Jumper on draft night.
Up to Croft if he wants the old mans jumper

I think it's a basic safety precaution. Can you imagine a draftee putting on His Royal Highness' jumper? They'd break every bone in their body.

I suspect the player numbers will be announced soon. Yesterday I tried to access the players information on the club website and it's
still closed or out of bounds at the moment. Information on the coaches page isn't available ether.

Is it just a sign that the site is being updated with all the new players and their numbers?
I checked earlier in the week and it still had the likes of Hannan, McLean and Sweet on there so I think the timing of it being down now is indicating an update is close.

No I agree, I just find the idea of closing off basic parts of the site in response to the good stuff we've been getting recently funny

The club does seem to have lifted the quality of some of the content it's sharing now. I'd imagine the player details will be completed today. I did see some people questioning the club about the player numbers a few days back and perhaps they've reacted to that.

Well the club has updated the website but you have to ask the question why Harmes and Coffield are in Dogs jumpers and Bramble is in a Hawks one. It can't be that hard.
Also the coaches pictures haven't been updated and Mat Inness replacement in Daniel Duvnjak-Zaknich hasn't been included.
