Bit of a "meh" round. Thursday night will be interesting to see if Pies go 0-3. But watching the Saints is rarely enjoyable.

I might have to find a couple of movies worth watching cause there's not much to see here.

I don't know why but I have a bit of interest in both of the games on Thursday and Friday. I want to see how the Saints are actually going and Adelaide and Geelong should be a decent encounter.

I am tipping the Pies to win but yeah will be fascinating how they respond. Saints very solid defensively but need more bang for their buck inside forward 50.

So fascinating that the afl is concerned about crowd numbers!

They'll probably get a crowd in the high teens 18K something like that. I think if it is under 15K for North that is low. Big crowd expected at the Good Friday match I would think like last year.

We should try and lockdown Easter Sunday night in the future as permanent slot for us so we can have that 'marquee' game that was lost on Good Friday.

Scott is a great coach indeed, but I do wonder if his record is as good as it could be, given the players he has had at his disposal. He has two premierships in his 12 year reign as coach and arguably one of them was a list built by Thompson (not to discredit Scott?s ability to get them over the line against a very good Pies team).

One thing Scott is very good at is the ability to be competitive pretty much all the time. Geelong are consistently thereabouts in aiming for a top 4 spot. That is a massive achievement in itself.

He is a brilliant player. I love the way he goes about (except against us). Similar in size to Buku - 190 to 192 cm and often plays as a Key Defender. If Buku can model himself on Stewart we will have a good player (there are similarities- ability to read the flight; leg speed; leap at the ball). But yes Stewart is all class.

Geelong is a destination club though , it’s away from Melbourne , beautiful surrounding areas. Most players growing up in the area stay there or find a way to get back.
Its geographical position is very much a drawcard if you want to play in Victoria.
No doubt they have a heads up in getting players.

Yes, left the ground, tucked himself up and knocked him out.
4-6 weeks.

I love when the bombers start well then get belted. One minute every player is a champion next minute they should all be traded, their fans are unbelievable.

Not as bad as the Webster one but still worthy of a long suspension. Though it wouldn't surprise me if he only got 2 weeks given how incompetent the match review is.

Ferk me. Let's review every faintly marginal brush of the point post but run a metre our of bounds? As you were.

May as well give coach's boxes the option to review a play and have goals recalled if the contributing passage was egregiously adjudicated.

I think all current technology should be abandoned till they get 4k capable cameras and chips inside balls.

Let the umpire make the decisions

People can?t accept the umpire?s call.

They lose their minds like toddlers if something goes against them.

Anyone watch Melbourne games just to speculate on which fringe player we’ll pick up next?

My guess is Charlie Spargo. He didn’t play today but everyone in their 22 right now is probably a bit too good for us to consider (Ben Brown notwithstanding).

As long as Tomlinson is on their list everyone else is safe. We'd love a dud like that.

Swans look impressive. High scoring game and Swans look to have lots of options in front of goal and they move the ball with speed and precision, Highly skilled team.

Bombers looked OK in patches, it was close at times but you felt like the Swans were always in control.

Hopefully 2 meter Pete is suspended for the game against us.

And they did what we didn't last week in the last, which was make the Swans prove that they were. Bevo said last week's biggest disappointment was how we let them get away and I think that's valid, in that the whole game wasn't great and we only had patches but you just have to hang in there and make the other team prove they've got it over you.

Omg Stringer , I think every goal he got was because he was sitting 30 metres from the play asking for the over the back delivery. I actually saw him running into the wrong goal square in the last qtr asking for it at one stage.

Biggest laugh tonight was when Draper took an overhead mark and Darcy responded with it was due to his soccer skills as a kid.

Tom Papley

"Brad Scott came out and said it's the Essendon way ... you can pretend to be tough, but you've still got to win the ball and win the game. It's all a facade."

Papley said there was “no love lost” between the Swans and Bombers and described Essendon coach Brad Scott’s mantra of playing on the edge as a “facade”.
“They really gave it to us. Brad Scott came out and said they want to have that Essendon edge and Peter Wright took it a bit too far,” Papley told 3AW.
“They were still getting into us. You can be tough and do all that stuff, but you’ve still got to be able to play four quarters.
“They were hitting us behind the play and things like that. They’re trying to do that stuff and I don’t know if it’s them or not.
“Brad Scott came out and said it’s the Essendon way, but … anyway I won’t go into it.
“You can pretend to be tough, but you’ve still got to win the ball and win the game.
“It’s all a facade I think, but anyway.”

I think Papley was right to be honest.
Sydney didn’t get sucked in and won the game.
Just a question what will happen to Cloke ?
Runners are supposed to run out give instruction and run off , should be nowhere near the play.
A fine ? A few weeks off ?

Thoroughly fascinating to hear Scott defend Wright as a pure 'ball player' against a backdrop of him goading his charges to play with more of an 'Essendon edge'.

Yeah Sydney players never hit players behind play...just like they always seem to be screwed by the umpires in Grand Finals.

Honestly a pretty shocking look for Nick Hind here, missed with the attempted elbow but that should have been months off for legitimately throwing an elbow strike if he had hit.
