Melbourne have decided to go into the game with no recognised ruckman and opting for Petty.

Tells me coaches want more than some bloke getting 40 hitouts to no one in particular and then doing nothing around the ground.

The state of the Demons rucks after Max Gawn is abysmal. They have Tom Fullarton who is mostly a forward and can't get on the park, then two 20 year olds.

great list management. Surely Fullarton is given a go

Not sure it really tells that story. Fullerton was never going to get them 25 hitouts so they've tried to get creative. They want 35 hitouts which is why they have Gawn and tried to make a Gawn/Grundy combination work. They've run the gauntlet with their ruck set-up and now might pay a price for it.

Their list management only stunk this year when they off-loaded the best back-up ruckman in the competition to a fellow contender, and for a pittance. They had an elite understudy to Gawn and were only paying him $600k a season 12 months ago - it was actually awesome list management to lure Grundy in the first place, who replaced Jackson (we all know how good he can be on his day) on the list, so they have been very well-stocked for ruck depth the last 4-5 years.

They panicked on Grundy last year when they went out in straight sets for the 2nd consecutive year.

Fair goal from Elliot. Gotta love players who can keep their feet after a marking contest, gather cleanly and finish under pressure from a decent distance and angle.

Let?s hope that?s a concussion for Stewart? he always kills us.

That's pretty dark mate!

Maybe let's hope it's not, and he does a hip flexer or something.

Just a little one so he misses a week.

But no such luck, Naughton gets pulled out due to a whack on the nose and Stewart has a bad head clash which draws blood and is fine to continue. Doesn?t make sense to me.

One club is being sued and the other isn't.

The AFEL would be all over us for compliance right now behind the scenes.

Stewart should probably go for concussing another player anyway. Braced for a lower body bump and ran through the guy.

Deliberate or careless, high impact. One at least if the AFEL is serious.

Krueger wasn't actually concussed but Stewart looks in strife anyway.

Extremely weird of the Swans to carry on like Heeney is dying.

Are the Swans officially the biggest whinging club in the AFL, closely followed by any club coached by the Scott twins

Hawks v Freo is an absolute cracker.
Sicily goes forward and kicks 2 to give the Hawks a lead.

2 observations from watching a small amount of footy tonight.

1: How has Essendon won 10 games this year?

2/ How is Zak Jones still playing in the AFL?

You obviously don't know how much of a hard man he is. He's such a hard man.

We just need to keep winning so we don't have to rely on anyone but yep it helps when the teams around us don't win in the position we are in now.

Brisbane really seem to get looked after by umpires at times.

Only 19,000 at the G today to watch Tigers who supposedly have over 100,000 members

We would have negative crowds where opposition supporters would be billeted to our houses for our games (if you believed some of the commentary about our crowd numbers around here) if in the same situation.

Fair chance there were more Carlton supporters at our home game than Bulldog supporters.

They have won six in a row - other than Sydney no one else can really get a run on.

It is, but on the flip side I would imagine our gate takings would look fairly healthy.

How is it relevant to a discussion about a club with 100k members playing a game with only 20k people turning up?

Well according to the afl website they believe they both will finish first and second. They even gave Cripps best on ground on the weekend.

I guess they can win it as they are both proven vote getters.

Cripps yes and Neale will struggle

I think Cripps will win the Brownlow and then every previous Brownlow medal winner will feel compelled to go up on stage and hand their Brownlows over to him and then they’ll rename the Brownlow the Cripps
