This is the Round 23, 2024 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once this afternoon's game against North Melbourne has concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

Bramble's becoming a very reliable player in recent weeks. He's not trying to bite off more than he can chew, but he's still setting up play out of the back and also being a reliable defender.

Richards- he has changed the whole dynamic of our midfield.

Macrae - his last quarter effort as the sub was 10 out of 10.

Anchors

The goalkicking was pretty ordinary again.

Bankers

1. Darcy determined to fix his goal kicking woes from last week

2. Freijah very solid in the backline - rising star Nom this week - surely

3. Lobb - stepped in to fill a hole and did ok.

Anchors

1. West - has been down in form - should he be dropped?

2. Worried about the injuries to Lobb and Naughton?

3. Goal kicking again

Bankers
1. Rory Lobb gave a great performance against Xerri, smashed in the hit outs but not in the overall contest.
2. With only a handful of games Joel Freijah already looks a seasoned and skilful player, a steal at pick 45.
3. Ed Richards has developed into one of the best midfielders in the AFL.

Anchors
1. I am not sold on Buku Khamis being a close checking defender.

FJ looks like he's been playing for years, only made one mistake I can recall

JOD looked looked safe and effective, and as if he had not missed any games

Very heroic effort by Lobb up against an animal ruckman. Is he the most versatile player in the league?

Anchors

Buku is a dodgy defender but I don't know whether Coffield is any better.

Missing some easy kicks at goal

A couple of really selfish kicks on the run at goal and missing when the better option was to pass to a player in a better position

This should just be a recurring Anchor, like one of those annoying Zoom/Teams internal weekly 'planning' meetings that clog up the calendar

Like we should just create the B&A thread for next week and already pop goal kicking in as an anchor? Just like how time sheets are done.

We are very heavy scorers because in our games the ball spends most of the time in our half, which means the F50 has almost 36 players in it. This means it is difficult to find someone on a lead to have a set shot. Yes our set shots also suck a bit.

We are third (just, could be second with one more goal) for most points kicked. The good thing is we have conceded the second least points - Freo is first.
