This is the Round 24, 2024 edition of the weekly Bankers and Anchors thread. Once this afternoon's game against GWS has concluded post your nominations for:

The Bankers = 3 guys/aspects of the game that we banked on to do the right thing during the game
The Anchors = 3 guys/aspects of the game that weighed us down by their errors or poor play

Please limit it to no more than three of each player or aspect of the game, but feel free to make honourable/dishonourable mentions. As usual try to make it constructive criticism.

Try and restrict it to individual players rather than aspects of the overall match - I will allow more freedom now as the thread seems to be going down more of the aspects of the game path so you can have 3 for each made up of aspects of the game and individual players.

The thread is named in honour of a popular WOOF Contributor, The Banker, who passed away on 22/04/2012 after a six month battle with cancer.

1. Our first qtr set us up for the win. The pressure was phenomenal and keeping them to an 11 point lead.
2. Daniel and Macrae still have lots to offer and had influences on the game.
3. Our defence off HB was a key ingredient to our win - Dale, Freijah, Duryea, JOD were excellent in repelling the Giants forays.

B

Won when it really counted.
Tactics. Perfect from Bevo.
English. Thought he battled well, and got forward and back when needed.

A

Goal kicking needs to tighten up, but the wind was crazy.
Giving up goals with kicks after siren.
Some of the holding the ball calls only apply against us it seems.

The energy and pressure for 4 quarters. I think GWS would've been very concerned at the end of the 3rd quarter. We were relentless and in waves.
Richards' class in tight and by foot. If he lights it up in the finals, he's going to elevate his stature in the game to the top tier.
Apart from Jone's who had a complete 'mare, the rest of our defense were amazing.

Anchors

Jones' reminiscent of some of his most brain fartiest worst of his early years with us. He's had an amazing year, so happy to write this one off....except it looks like he's going to get rubbed out for the tackle on Cadman.

The last minute brain fades at end of quarter's is something the guy's need to focus on addressing, come finals.

1. Darcy Goal when he took the ball out of the ruck and slammed a goal.
2. The pressure we applied today - 75 tackles
3. The belief in the players that we can play finals

Anchors

Zero today

Bankers:

Ed Richards' urgency around the contest and strength to break tackles. So important in those conditions.
Darcy just never getting outmarked, and throwing himself at contests.
Bailey Williams' composure and smarts. Played the conditions really well and is getting the balance of attack and defence right.

Anchors:

Jones' potential suspension
Lapse in concentration seemingly to give up very late goals twice.

1. When we bring the heat.
2. Composure down back.
3. Our "last six".

Anchors
1. Ballarat weather. But it a way it's a Banker because it proves we can win under ANY conditions.
2. Toby Greene - flogarama on show.
3. That's all
