With 14 contested possessions (the most of anyone of the ground) you have no place for Cross and give Eagleton 4, did he win the footy once for us or just receive outside? I know he got a lot of the ball and tackled well and I know that you were there but I don't understand this one....

Most weeks I vote for those who do things to break the game open, and win (or attempt to) the game for the side. Cross wasn't bad in close, but his impact on the overall result wasn't huge from where I was sitting. Eagleton on the other hand looked to create, and often broke the game open for us. Thought he was easily our most effective and damaging player on the day.

Fair enough, winning the footy for us 14 times isn't bad at all.

No doubt, and not a knock on Cross at all. I was actually surprised he played out the game after a pretty heavy knee from Gill.
Eagle was credited with 8 contested possessions in the stats I saw.

So you'd much rather someone flashy who finishes off the hard work of others?

 I'd rather someone take the game on and attempt to break it open, rather than over-use the ball and go nowhere fast.
You and a few others almost seem upset that Eagle played a good game.

Scrap that, he didn't lay any tackles. He did, however, have 7 inside 50s, probably resultant Crossy handballs:D. I actually gave him 2 votes, I thought he did what he usually does, just did it a little better yesterday.

I've made no comment on Eagleton's game at all. Unfortunately I had no access to Foxtel last night so I didn't get to see the game (I'll download it during the week).
I was simply responding to your comment "Most weeks I vote for those who do things to break the game open, and win (or attempt to) the game for the side."
That comment implies to me you don't respect those who get dirty and do the hard stuff (that allows the flashy finishers to do their work).

If you look at my votes for the year there have been plenty of times when that has included a Cross, Boyd etc etc.
Yesterday in particular because of the conditions it was extra important as it was a real slog, and anyone able to create space, who looked to run and carry and play on and move the ball quickly, was very important.
I actually wasn't aware that breaking a game open was the same as being a flashy outside finisher, but I'll keep that in mind for next time.
