On the basis that Shaw went to the Swans with pick 61 as a trade for pick 46, I think we did very well winning this deal

Thorpe to Dogs for 31, then Hawks 16 and 31 to Swans for Okeefe

This is probably the sort of result we were expecting. I believe that there will be a significant drop in talent, come draft time, around pick 40 or so. To get pick 31 is great.

Disappointing to lose Ray for not much value, but we have managed to upgrade our 3rd round pick to a 2nd round pick. Given the depth of this draft, and number of talls, I think we have come out of this better than I expected.
I for one hope we don't on-trade this pick.

is it cruel to say I will not miss seeing those loopy handballs that give the opposition an opportunity to get the ball off us.
Or the confidence displayed on his left foot only to see it float forward and rebound back.
Geez I can be mean

If they had traded for either I would said yes and asked the moderators to permanently set your avatar as dr evil
but sanity has prevailed and Fantasia has led the troops out of the war room

No need to worry Desipura, you will still have Cross' kicking to watch with similar effect!

I will be happy for Cross to continually get the contested footy and handball to our runners ie Griffen, Cooney, Gilbee etc etc
We have traded 3 purely outside players in the last 2 drafts McMahon, Power & Ray.
We are changing our balance of our list and rightly so.
Finallly Ray might play a good game for us.
Albeit against us in a Saints jumper.

Surely we could of done a deal with the Saints involving Ray and Ayce Cordy pick.

Glad we got something for him and didn't lose him for nix... however I still believe he will become a 150 + game player who will get better as the years go by, and am disappointed he is no longer with our team.
Thems the breaks though, and not alot we could do given he wanted to go.
I also think that the Saints playing him off the half back flank will go along way to improving him or at least making the most out of the skills he has got. I think that's where we should've played him.

What, like if you don't nominate Ayce, we'll trade Farren under more favourable terms?
If you really think that then you have no concept of what really goes on.
Matt Rendell stated that Adelaide were keen on Ayce, as were North Melbourne. In a meeting before the bidding commenced it was decided between them that St.Kilda would nominate Ayce.
If we did do a deal beforehand, how do you overcome Adelaide & North Melbourne?

Since I've heard we are only going to use 3 draft picks, I'm very happy with this upgrade :)

That was what I thought as soon as St Kilda were rumoured to be interested
Even after they'd nominated Cordy I then wondered in our trade if we could have exchanged first round draft picks, thereby we would have only needed to take Cordy with our second pick

No, you cannot exchange picks in that instance. Once you commit to using a pick under F/S you are locked in & cannot trade/exchange that pick.
I can't believe how often this query has come up & been responded to.
