View Full Version : Draft Day Extravaganza

I will be online today listening to the draft and I will try and keep this thread updated as the names are called.

Does anyone else care to name a roughy that might get called by us?

Matt Burgan listed two players in Liam Jones and Tom Lee as a possible selections for us and once again it will be interesting to see if he is on the money. So often Burgan and Quayle seem to know or are at least able to predict the Clayton picks.

Can you imagine how nervous some of these youngsters are today? At the age of 17 or 18 their whole life is about to change. Hearts will be broken today and plenty of mums will be crying their eyes out as the realisation that their son is heading off interstate hits home.

I'll add some links later to help people either listen to it on SEN or watch it unfold on AFL.com.au

I'm really looking forward to seeing which pups will be making their home at the Kennel.

I am up early and excited even though I went to bed late.

It is more wishful thinking than really thinking Clayton will pick him up, but Casey Sibosodo has really impressed me. I hope we go for the best available and not for smokeys.

Also after reading about Naitanui in the paper this morning, I hope if West Coast draft him they look after him and not expose him to influences like Cousins. He sounds like a really good kid that has had to work much harder for his success than some of the other kids.

Same. Big day at the cricket turned into a big night, but my alarm was set for this morning.

Look forward to watching it all unfold.

Yeah i'm up and pretty excited about today. I'm really hoping to pick up Jaydn Post, as someone who can play fwd and back. I hear we have shown interest in a couple of fwd pocket types in varcoe and jetta. I hope this is off the mark.

I want a KPF and a KPF/BACK....and i'll be happy, and i dont want one of them to be Lee.

Post and Jones would keep me happy.

although i have my eye on Sibasado and Shoenmakers too.

I'm praying Schoenmakers slides, but I don't think it'll happen. If he somehow lasts to 28, surely the Crows HAVE to take him.

Ahhh I've got a good feeling we'll pick up a massive slider or something along those lines.

Can't beat draft day suspicions!

The only info i know about the players potentially available around our picks is what I've read off here. I wouldn't be dissapointed if we drafted Roughead. He could compliment Cordy's athleticism in the ruck.

I wouldn't be against getting someone like Roughead either. Hudson might only have another season or two in him and I see Cordy more as a forward anyway.

I would like Casey Sibosodo and Mitch Banner, thats a good forward and a hard tough runner, who would be good as a HBF.

Sadly not. Bit strange as all the AFL streams of games etc usually work fine and quite often they're through SEN.

I'm just re-freshing the AFL page like a madman waiting for the Draft Tracker to start up.

Very much so. For a couple of years he was a dominate FF before moving more into the fulltime ruck duties.

I just looked him up and the site claimed he was one of the league's best players before the knee. He was 206cm.

After picking up key position players this year and last year the focus would be on smalls next year would it not. Hopefully Cordy, Grant, Roughead, Boumann, Everitt etc. develop into the core of our team just as the 99? draft did. That would give us something to build upon in the future.

Roughy is a MASSIVE Doggies fan, my dad knows his old man and he was hoping we'd snag him at 31/32. No doubt they're over the moon. Looking forward to yelling out 'GO ROUGHY'! He could easily play next year IMO - pretty well developed already.

Is Roughead more of a solid ruckman as opposed to an athletic ruckman like Cordy? We have potential to develop a pretty powerful ruck duo with potential to go forward and kick goals.

3 Tall players this year..looking forward to see Jordan Roughead out there, hopefully has some good talent like his cousin.

He is a ruckman prospect though right?

That makes our ruck list Hudson, Minson, Skipper, Cordy & Roughead..

Is that too many or can we keep Will up forward now? Or will he slot in when Hudson retires?
