"It’s that time of the year again to bring together your mates for a fun and exciting summer season of Recreational Football. Need a chance to socialise, keep fit and enjoy friendly competition in a fun environment then here’s the answer.

Returning to Whitten Oval in 2009 Rec Footy is bigger and better than ever. This weekly competition will Commence on the 3rd of February 2009 and run every Tuesday night between 6pm and 8.30pm up until the 17th March 2009.

Recreational Football is a mixed competition open to both men and women. This provides a great chance to get together with family, friends and colleagues to take part in a fun and rewarding game.

Limited spots available so get your teams of 8 together and register by contacting Jessica Manning on 9680 6193 or via email at jessica.manning@westernbulldogs.com.au"

Anyone interested in getting a team together? :D

Im in my early 20s and not the fittest person around (im improving though), but ive always wanted to play indoor footy. It's not a high contact sport either so the risk is anything you do to yourself not others. I might call them later on for a bit more info if theres any interest!

A few of us have a team that's been going for a few years, I think we're pretty full for numbers but it would be fantastic to have another WOOF Team to go up against. Pretty sure we could use an extra female player though.

I, Twodogs and some others could answer any questions you have Alexxx.

Assuming the fees haven't changed, its $20 P/P registration for the Season, and match fees are $80 per team, which was great when we had a couple of interchange because it was only $8 per person. Not so great for the skipper who was left trying to make sure everyone got their $2 change.

Luckily the new skipper will just keep the $2 change as part of his captain's salary.

I am getting together the team westdog mentioned. Not totally sure we are full for numbers so if anyone is interested you can PM me.

Are you counting my brother and his mate in your numbers? They are both back on board.

I thought it was indoor aswell. This answers a lot of questions...although does look confusing. I hope we can get another team up and running quickly! (Or playing in last years)

Wow, that sounded like the worst possible game for me to ever play. Very similar to netball.

I'd give away countless fouls.

Giving away a free in the backline can often be a necessary evil, as you cannot shoot for goal from a free kick. There are quite a few frees given away but you get used to it.

I'm in if you have room for another girl, although I haven't kicked a footy since August or September.

I started playing again when I was 40.

We played Monday nights; Tuesday mornings I couldn't even dress myself and had to slide down the stairs on my arse!

My surgeon made me give it away.

Yeah I think a second team would be a good idea. Maybe I can even loan out a few of my players at the right price.

I hear twodogs is indispensable, the go to man, the Cooney of the team if you will, I plan to unravel your game plan with a few well timed shirtfronts straight off the line!!

We'll be loaning you players by the end!!

In Rec Footy girls are an extremely rate and valuable commodity (resisting temptation to make a joke), so I don't have any I can pass on.

I called Jessica who runs the comp today and she said there are still two spots available for teams. They are sending out details next week so I would get in asap.

Hi everyone

We just kicked off our Rec Footy season last night at Whitten Oval. Us 'oldies' were all a bit stiff and sore this morning!

If anyone is still looking for a team, please let me know as we have some spaces still to fill. Especially if any women are looking to play.

It's been a real struggle finding women. I even tried the Vic Womens Football League, but no luck so far.

Has everyone else found it difficult to recruit women as well??

It was good fun though. Great to be out having a run around!!
