Just heard Rocket say that Daniel Cross was having some exploratory surgery on his ankle tonight. He says it could be one week, could be six weeks. Disappointing news!

Agreed.

Hopefully being the super fit and motivated guy he is it doesn't result in a 6 week lay off.

Could we just park him in the middle, with his crutches, and let his hands work their magic?!!

:D

Doesn't need his legs for kicking that is for sure

Reid or O'Keefe?

Reid or O'Keefe?

The former hasn't played a game for Willy since his injury and the latter will only get picked if no one else is available. My guess is that Picken will replace him and Everitt will go out for Bobby.

You're probably right with with those 2 inclusions, but Reid did play for Willy last week.

Thats awful news, big set back for a must win game this week. Would of liked to have known that 2 hours ago when plonked some cash on the boys to get the job done this week, $2.10 was just too tempting.

Not quite...maybe after tomorrow if we found out he is out for the year. I guess they will be determining the result right about now!

Ankle surgery places Cross' season in doubt (http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/82451/default.aspx)

From the AFL website.

'Cross is the leading tackler at the Bulldogs with 84 tackles for the season and the second-best ball-winner behind Matthew Boyd.'

First we lose #1 in goal assists with Gia
Then losing #1 tackler?

Ouch. :/

Okay I was just regaining my spirits, thanks very much.

What next? Brad Johnson gets tooth decay?? Hudson gets a rare case of facial baldness??? Gilbee gets late onset pigeon toe???? Gia gets hit by the ugly stick????? Akermanis goes back to is natural hair colour??????

Where is chicken little? I backed you all the way me little chickadee.

At least we won the cricket.

Come on dogs, this is familiar territory, backs against the wall now and nothing to lose. Crossy will be back in 3, just in time...

IS 2009 over? We will find out Saturday night.

May be time to get my Rafa n Stevie n Torres flag out so I have another team to hang my heart on until the last 3 games of the season....

Coincidently these are the only injuries that Tom Williams hasn't suffered yet in his career to date.

Oh well........... sigh!

I guess there's 2 ways to look at it - as someone else posted - backs to the wall, and dogs do their best work. Or, same old story....... there goes the season (again) :(

That sounds a little better.

I think Round 22 is more realistic than next week against Geelong.

Now is when our depth will be tested. I think our lack of playing kids like GOK, Reid and Wood, will come back to hurt us.

Agree. And it's not like we didn't have any out of form players to drop to give them a go

Is it just me, or has anyone else been really impressed with Cross in the last 2 games?

Seems a different player with two new ankles IMO. Very impressive.

I have been, especially last night. Good to see him trusting his kicking a bit more. His kicking isn't great but it's nowhere near as bad as his hesitation warrants.

Yep, played a very good game last night. Some of his tackling was very good, and he got his hands on the ball often. Looks set for a big year.

I think I mentioned that I was amazed that he was slotting through goals from 45 to 50mtrs at a training session a few weeks back.

Really is a testament to Cross as a player and a person. To be able to will himself through two reconstructions is simply unparalleled. If he was slightly more polished with his feet & perhaps kicked the odd more goal, he'd be my choice as captain next year.
