Hey All I read a lot of posts picking out individual players good and bad (normally bad), and about who should and shouldn't be dropped. So i thought "if i could pick my side to take the field who and in what position?"

Here is what i came up with..

B: Morris, Lake, Harbrow
HB: Hargrave, Williams, Gilbee
C: Ward, Boyd, Griffen
HF: Hill, Murphy, Gia
F: Johnson, Minson, Higgins
R: Hudson, Cooney, Cross

Interchange: Aker, Picken, Callan, Everitt / Reid / Grant.....?

It was hard to nail players down into spots,

I would really like to see Griffen running off half back with spells on the ball.
I would try to leave Higgins close to goal 80% of the time, maybe rotate him with Cooney at times
I would like to see Tim Callan's muscle, tackling and hardness back.
I would try to get Will Minson angry (he is a big boy bloody use it) , and give him a pair of gloves (so the ball might stick)...
Aker spells forward and in the mid field he is still a very dangerous weapon.
Everitt / Reid don't know... this is the one spot that I think is up for grabs.

It is only my opinion... what do you think or what would your team look like.

I would have Welsh in there somewhere as he adds a lot to our structure and straightens us up.

No Mitch Hahn?

Not convinced about Hill, come finals I'd prefer Hahn. Williams continues to get picked on reputation but who else is there? Great to see that Ward and Harbrow are settled in the 22.

No Mitch Hahn?

Maybe the last spot on the bench, but i think he lacks leg speed and he foot skills are not up to scratch. Mitch is great when he throws his body around and tackles hard inside 50, if i saw more of that he would be in...

Welsh - is also a forward line option, but he is not a KPP and good fullbacks tend to run off him too easily...

I think we can only either Hahn or Welsh in not both... 2+ goals per game would be required.

No Eagleton - he has done well to play 200 games for us, but think his time is up...

I would put Aker in the forward pocket, Higgins to HFF, Hill to the wing and Ward starting on the bench with Picken, Callan & O'Keefe

How can he be in any best side when he hasn't even played a senior game?

Hahn is the barometer of our team, when he is firing we are firing, so a must in. Everitt and Reid are not in the best 22 and Tim Callan is out of form.

How can he not have played a senior game when he is in our best 22?
The answer appears to be poor attitude, which does not mean he isn't a good player

Sorry gogriff, don't understand the logic here? GOK has not played a senior game, so how can he be in our best 22?

Exactly, best 22 is best 22 ON THE PARK, the likes of Reid, Everitt, Grant & O'Keefe cannot even be considered in our best 22.

HB: Hargrave Williams Gilbee
C: Griffen Boyd Ward

Looks like a 2009 team, unless we win it this year somethings have to change.....i would hope that some of the kids come on over the summer
ie Stack, Oka, Ace and Roughy

The thread is about our best team for the finals. I would have Aker and Hahn in, Grant and Addison out.

I'll have a crack

B: Morris Lake Harbrow
HB: Gilbee Williams Hargrave
C: Hill Boyd Cross
HF: Gia Murphy Johnson
F: Aker Welsh Higgins
R: Hudson Cooney Griffen
Int: Minson, Hahn, Eagleton, Picken, Ward

If push came to shove and all these players were available at any one given time (which will never happen!) at this stage I would probably be looking at dropping any one of Ward, Eagleton, Hahn or Hill depending on how I'm feeling on the day.

B: Morris Lake Harbrow
HB: Hargrave Williams Gilbee
C: Eagleton Boyd Griffen
HF: Akermanis Murphy Hahn
F: Higgins Johnson Hill
R: The Beard The Beard, Jr. Cross

Int: Minson Ward Giansiracusa Picken

Picken should be used more in tagging role he was originally brought in for. He showed that he was capable of doing it, yet from what I've noticed he hasn't been applying strong tags as much in the past few weeks.

Gia is obviously of more value on the ground, but he generally starts off it.

Hudson is first ruck, Minson could start in the forward line but at the start of the game they like to hit up targets rather than bomb long.

Williams is included on nothing more than hope. He needs to be in our best 22, more than IS in our best 22. Does a few good things each game, but whether or not they are enough is debatable. He may need time to continue his improvement, but in a team pushing for a flag it must be asked whether giving him that time is appropriate. However, Williams being in the side against some teams is necessary purely for match-ups.

The combination of The Beard, Boyd, Cross and the Beard, Jr. is not necessarily our optimal centre bounce team, with Cross and Griffen interchangeable. However, for the opening bounce I think having Cross in there would be for the best.

Think that's all...

I think we were crying out for Williams last night, especially when Morris was really struggling.

I think add Cross and Griffen, and our side is almost 'best'. A fit and in form Williams would be great, but how mahy times have we actually seen this...

Thus for round 22 and hopefuly finals, we'll have our best side on the park.

I agree with you, but it most likely will be at the expense of Reid and Addison. Will we miss Reids hardness at the ball?I think so.
Also if Williams doesn't come up we will need Tiller.
So taking that into account
Cross in for Reid
Griffen in for Addison
Williams / Tiller in for ?? (Welsh?)
