Radio commentators almost all said if he nailed it, they thought the Saints wouldn't come back, thus we would go into the GF. How did the loyalists see it?

Pressure situation you have to sink them. 35 out, minimal pressure, 45 degree angle and an open goal, a player of Gia's skill should've nailed that.

I got the impression it was touched off the boot?

It was a shot of medium difficulty on his wrong foot that didn't miss by much. Maybe it would have won us the game, maybe the Saints would have still kicked 2 and won by a point, we can hypothesise all we want but it still missed and we still lost. I'm sure Gia's pretty ****ing upset about it, but I bet nobody was cursing him for kicking a great goal in the 3rd.

Sure Gia missed...but there were a number of others that should've converted too. That's what the best teams do...and we're not there yet.

At first I thought it was touched the way it came off the boot. Just a terrible shank.

Blew opportunities in the first and last badly.
Gia, Gilbee, Griff & Higgo all to blame for it.

Ward dribbling a kick into a St Kilda defender... I think he wont do that again.

People around me were yelling 'Johno's all on his own' and I had to counter 'Gilbee running into goal from 40 odd out I take over passing it'
Still can't believe he shanked it
Though on Gia's miss - I'm waitin to watch the last quarter on Fox (it's late in the 3rd now) but I got the feeling he could've swung onto his right..or even kept running towards goal.
Meh, what ifs

Can't believe you can put yourself through it again. :)
This one will be like the 1997 Prelim. I'll never watch it again, ever.

Just getting it out of the way early - and having seen it, I won't want to see any of it again

There were 11 misses during the course of the game. Blaming Gia is a simplistic way of looking at it.......

Anyone sense any dejavu in a left foot shot in the last quarter of a prelim sailing close to the point post at the Ponsford end?
Not blaming Gia at all by the way, on the replay it looked on target until it approached the stick - and first quarter misses were the ones that really hurt.

We kicked 3.9 to 2.2 in the 1st and last qtrs when we dominated the general play.
They kicked 7.4 to 4.2 in the 2nd & 3rd qtrs.
We kick 6.6 instead of 3.9 we win... but it's all, if's, but's and maybes now.

It's what Rocket said after the game, we kick 9.9 instead of 7.11 we win.
Can't change the game now, most times we would back Gia home to kick those. It's just the Bulldogs prelim curse coming back to haunt us, we need to get over this mental hurdle.

At quarter time, I had a bad feeling that first quarter would cost us.........
