View Full Version : Hall deal done & Lake has re-signed - Caro

According to Caro hall has told Roos he wants to be traded to the Dogs.
As an aside caro also casually mentions that Brian Lake has been re-signed on a 4 year deal. I would have thought we might have heard about that.
"Hall has told Sydney that he wants to resume his playing career and has nominated the Bulldogs as his club of choice."
...
"The Bulldogs recently shored up their defence, re-signing All-Australian Brian Lake for four years"

The thing I don't like about this is that reports are suggesting it will cost us a second round pick (unlikely) or a third.
Why should we pay anything of substance for a player they retired/delisted?
Surely a 4th round pick or a fringe player (Tiller?) is more than fair. I know we want to guarantee ourselves of Hall's services, but I would be peeved if we got lured into compromising our future for the sake of 1, possibly 2 years.
In saying that I really hope we land him. I haven't been a fan until recently and still have my concerns, which is why I hope we don't get bent over.

I think if you have a look you might find I posted this at 11.47. Some 12 minutes before you posted yours.
You're getting older, Baz, and not so quick off the mark as you once were.
You haven't had a bad season, though, so we might consider offering you another 1 year deal - on reduced pay, of course.

Mark Stevens has also mentioned that Hall wants to come to the Dogs so I think the deal is as good as done providing the Swans don't get greedy. The indications are that they will be OK with the deal.

I agree. 4th rounder plus Ocka, Wight, Skipper or any other fringe. Not Tiller, perhaps DFA at a push.
Or up trade them our picks 48 and 64 for their pick 57 and 73.

Eade is unlikely to trade DFA, he has the right attitude and is a required depth player for the hard nuts/contested type.
Great news about BBBBB, i wonder if this will have the cousins affect and drive up hope and membership sales for next seasons. I think the marketing department should take advantage of this trade.

Not for me. I was horrified at what we gave up for Jade Rawlings when we did the deal.
A lot of Hall doubters are simply ignoring the price we are paying for him (trade and salary).
We effectively traded out pick 6 and the opportunity to secure Nick Stevens for Jade Rawlings. We also handed him a 4 year contract on premium coin.
We are probably going to get Hall for a 3rd round pick and possibly a player we want to de-list anyway. He will be on an average senior player salary.

Jade Rawlings wanted to go to North Melbourne, whereas Barry Hall, like Aker, wants to come to the Bulldogs, so hopefully it all works out!! :)

Addison > Tiller.
I wouldn't trade Addison. He was very good in the '08 season and his injury was real bad timing for us. Tiller on the other hand, has played about 3 or 4 good games for us. I personally don't rate him at all. He'll be delisted within two years.

DFA gets his nickname from the presentation of his jumper from Johnno prior to his first game. It was out on the ground and the camera filmed Johnno's address to the players during which he dropped the F-bomb several times. From memory it started along the lines of "This boy-THIS ****ING MAN-has been emergency for the last month and hasnt once dropped his ****ing head but just kept putting his ****ing name forward until we had no ****ing choice but to pick him. Dylan ****ing Addison deserves his chance more than most"

I had no idea that happened. What a great story. As if I needed more reason to love him, or Johnno for that matter. In truth, I thought he had become DFA because exasperated Woofers addressed him as so. Thanks TD.
