THE WESTERN Bulldogs and the Sydney Swans are hopeful they can reach an agreement that will see Barry Hall move to Whitten Oval by lunchtime on Monday.

With negotiations with the Swans their priority, the Dogs are optimistic a deal for the power forward will be struck on trade week's opening day at Etihad Stadium.

"First up is Sydney, so we look forward to having a chat with them," Bulldogs football operations manager James Fantasia said from the venue.

"We'd like to think [it will be done quickly], but we've put an offer on the table and if they accept it, it will be done pretty quickly."

Swans coach Paul Roos said he also wished to reach an agreement before the clubs broke for lunch.

It is believed the Swans are seeking a second or third-round selection – at worst – for the 32-year-old.

"If everyone acts in good faith it should get done at 10.40am," Roos said.

"I'll tell you at 10.41am [what good faith is]."

I suspect he was busy doing a deal with Brisbane and WCE.

Although asking for a late pick from Sydney AND getting Barry Hall sounds a bit greedy for me...

If it's a pick that Sydney has no intention of using, why is it greedy? We were more than happy to do the same thing last year with the Farren Ray trade by offering St Kilda a pick that we were not interested in using.

Unless we need another low pick to throw in for someone else? A crumbing forward, perhaps?

Good stuff. 'At best a 2nd or 3rd round' mean 3rd round at worst to us. I don't care if no deal is done this week, he can go into the PSD and the Swans get nothing. Only harm to us is a later pre season start.

And a team with a pick before us selects him first.

Not sure that will happen given he named us as a preference. He could nominate for the national draft too.

Either way, ND or PSD there is an wanted risk involved.

It's done guys. Big, bustling, brave, belligerant, beautiful (in the eyes of the beholder) Barry Hall is on his way to Whitten Oval. All in time for pre-season training.

Read all about it!!!!
