I notice the new channel 7 (72), that started today has AFl replays in the early hours of the morning. Looks like every day, old games and this years games. The bulldogs feature in a few this week. Good idea to keep a look out for good games we may not have on tape.

It's a pity we lost both games being shown, by my guide it's 2001 RND 17 - WESTERN BULLDOGS V RICHMOND
And 2009 PRELIMINARY FINAL - ST KILDA V WESTERN BULLDOGS so we can relive the pain.

But still good pick up OldBulldog I try and set the recorder to watch at some stage.

The Round 21 game in 1999 at Optus against WCE is on Thursday am. We won by 2 points in a good game. Its followed by Dogs V Pies this year Rnd 15 which we lost by 2pts. Game against Tigers in 2001 on Friday am we lost by 2 also. I think the theme is close games.

If you have High Definition set box already you should have it although you might have to rescan the channels first . You should also have OneHD (Ch 10 sports package) and Ch 99 Go.

I think they all work the same. With all these new free to air channels I think a lot of Foxtel subscribers will drop down to the more basic packages.

You dont need a HD Set Top Box. Seven 2 is a SD channel. So it will work with SD Set Top Boxes

I wouldn't imagine so. People who like watching movies still aren't being given new movies by the new channel. OneHD has won some of the sports market but they have only American sports which isn't something that Foxtel had a hell of a lot of.

You will still require a standard definition digital set top box to view 72 or even Ten's ONE 'SD' signal.

As for brand, I've been very happy with my Topfield. With that said I would recommend nowadays going a for a high definition box which gives you the full range of all digital channels. Get one with a dual tuner & built in hard disk recorder (known as a PVR) - you won't look back.

They showed that great game again which i IQ'ed..Turtle kicking a ripper of a goal early in the second close to the boundary by dribbling it through as well as taking a hanger at CHF which was paid, but a free against us in the goal square had it reversed......that games a keeper!

They played the game from 1997 against Carlton last week which we lost by 90 odd points. Kernahan kicked a lazy 11 i think.

Yes i know, i had that iq'ed ready to go as well, it was advertised against Carlton at WHITTEN OVAL, it ended up being that massacre at the G, i watched the first minute and thought, this isn't right, went to the end of the game, noticed the score and immediately pressed DELETE!

I was at that game, and pretty sure they shifted the full back to full forward [Silvagni] and he even kicked 2 or 3, wasn't a great day, and i certainly wasn't going to relive it either!

So much for only showing close games ey!

I noticed 1 HD is now showing the odd footy match late at night also. Seems no rhyme to when though. Green Guide comes in handy sometimes. Anyone recording 72 should allow up to 30 mins for late starts although they seem to be getting closer to advertised start times recently.

It's the first time I've seen it. It wasn't only the goals missed (Johnson, Cooney, Giansiracusa, Higgins, Akermanis, Lake), it was the turnovers 'round the ground, Murphy was particularly bad. 2009 should have finished differently.

I sat through the last half.

I know Josh Hill got canned for his efforts in this game, and he did make a few bad mistakes, but that passage of play where Gia took the mark and handballed over the top to Aker to goal - Josh was involved in about 5 contests in a row, some very good efforts which certainly created the goal for us - that just stood out to me.

Geez I miss the footy........

Let's petition to see some good wins.

How about, v Adelaide at MCG in 2006 where Cooney kicked a bag and got about 35 touches?

I wouldn't mind seeing those 1 point games against Geelong, or the great win we had against them late 2009.

Or even the 2006 EF against Collingwood....

Wasn't it the last round in '98' in a battle for top spot, but we lost by 6 points in front of about 60-70 thousand people(including me). We also lost Cook(for a stupid bump/arm to the head behind play) for the next two weeks.

It would be nice as I'm in the same boat in QLD. I'm thinking of getting foxtel just for the footy, I worked out that I'll get to see 6 games for sure 2 against the Lions and 4 Friday night games that mean staying up till midnight, 4 other games are very low chances but a possibility.

This years fixtures is probably the best we've had as interstate doggie supporters, but still not enough for my passionate hunger.:D

There was a spoil by the same Trent Ormond Allen on Chris Grant in the forward pocket that I recall thinking he would've been reported for that and it would have been a 50 metre penalty for sure these days. Watching it now for the first time since seeing it live in 1997. Currently 21 points up with one minute left in the 3rd quarter. Psyching myself up for disappointment.

Cook has 6.1 from 7 kicks with the behind being from an impossible shot after the 3/4 time siren (I have been typing for over a minute :)). He also had a gimme mark right in front spoiled by Romero who was the only player anywhere near him. Just goes to show how an addiction to pies can ruin one's life.

Should I walk away now or treat the inevitable pain of the last quarter as character building?

Cook has 6.1 from 7 kicks with the behind being from an impossible shot after the 3/4 time siren (I have been typing for over a minute :)). He also had a gimme mark right in front spoiled by Romero who was the only player anywhere near him. Just goes to show how an addiction to pies can ruin one's life.

Should I walk away now or treat the inevitable pain of the last quarter as character building?

Don't walk away, RUN away!!
The memory is terrible and even rehashing it in this thread still rips me up.

Walk away, it will only do your head in:(.

Just watched Libba celebrate the winning goal that wasn't awarded a goal. Tightness in the chest is making it hard to breathe.

TV is now off, may re-visit it sometime in the future, but not ready yet.

Oh the horror!!! :eek::eek::eek:

Seen a few ads on Foxtel for their "Chooseday Night Football" game for the upcoming Tuesday night. The theme is one point thrillers, and one of the games is our game vs North at Canberra.

Will vote!! Loved this game, brings back memories of me jumping up from the couch, screaming at the tv "Kick the f&^%$n thing Johnno". :D

PS: We'll have to vote a lot to outvote the 1999 Carlton V Essendon Preliminary Final.

That North match is one of the few games I've bought from Name-A-Game, but I voted for it anyway, if only to avoid the Carlton-Essendon game. The Luke Darcy punch and Johnno goal were just the best moments...I love beating North Melbourne.

You can vote more than once(I'm voted at least a dozen times already), so unless you would rather watch the Blues v's the Bombers KEEP VOTING OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Last week it was an Adelaide vs Fremantle game, or something equally unexciting. So I don't think many people actually vote :P

But still, keep voting. I want to watch it!!!!

Another flogging on 7two Wednesday morning at 3.45am Bulldogs take on the Carlton Blues at the Western Oval.

Round 3 1995. from memory Kernahan kicked 10 goals.

Do I see a theme here, do we ever get a fair go from 7two.

I'd be staying away from that one, was played at the MCG...

Carlton 23.20.158
Footscray 8.12.60

There was a win last night suprise suprise, v Carlton at Princess Park in 2000, with a young Murph & Mitch Hahn, a nice close win by 3 points.

That's a keeper!

Thanks for the heads up ill record that one..

I think its the one where Granty did this lazy kick out on the full which resulted in a mark to Riewoltd and a huge kick outside 50 to draw it... but it was Granty so I got over it pretty quickly ;)

That was the first game I'd been to in many years. A mate from work was taking his sons, and asked me along (he's a Saints fan). What a cracker of a game to come back to footy for.

Is that the game where Wayde Skipper played fairly well?

Skipper took a massive mark just outside the goal square, slotted a goal late in the 4th quarter to put us up.

Just watching this game now, recorded it last night..interesting notes below.

Bruce: "Chris Grant has had a good start.." *Cue Grant trying to put the ball onto his foot but misses and drops it* Bruce: "Ooh may have spoke too soon.." <- Classic

-Cooneys shank in the 3rd was a shocker!
-The umpiring was also shocking both ways.
-Also in this 3rd quarter Gherig kicked a goal from a set shot, but it was reversed to a Bulldogs free kick after Milne knocked Darcy down in the goal square..Til this game Gherig had at least 1 goal in 49 games in a row at the dome..he ended up without a single goal that night :D

So many changes in the span of 2-3 years..watching this game and you can see plenty of players no longer with us (Darcy, McMahon, Skipper, Ray, Grant, Power, West) and couple of jumper number changes (Everitt #29 Higgins #19) kinda forget about these things until you watch them ;)

It hurts to think we went into this Rd18 game sitting 10th on 36pts & 92.7%, facing the Saints who were 9th on 36pts..7th & 8th were on also on 36pts - and come the end of round 22 we were in the bottom 4 with just 85.5% :(

Thought it was worth mentioning this Sunday before the delayed telecast of our game, on channel 7 @ 2-3pm is Rd21 2000 Dogs vs Ess highlights (i assume) hosted by Sandy Roberts joined by Libba & Barnes to reminisce about the classic. Should be interesting to see what Barnsy has to say :D

The 1985 Preliminary Final is on Saturday at 3.45am, it may bring back some pain but if you want to see the likes of Les Bamblett and Doug Hawkins running around it will be worth the watch.

Also Rocket was playing for the Hawks.
