I went along to the Rookie fundraiser tonight. At the start of the evening David Smorgon addressed those present & said that:

a) Memberships are up 15%!

b) Gold seating has sold out!!

c) Social Club is up 40%, with only 2,500 available (I think the guarantee of a Grand Final ticket if we make it might just have a bit to do with it)!!!

I guess the message is clear; don't wait too long if you want to take out a Social Club Membership in 2010.

The deal we have with Willi is not exclusive to their playing list. We can rookie a player from another VFL team and Willi will chip in. The reason being that player will play for Willi when not playing at the dogs.

A win win for both teams.

9,002 ;)

I was hoping to change my seat, however due to the number of Gold Seat requests there was a fair chance that I'd lose a gold seat altogether if I moved so I'll still have about 4m2 of the ground I can't see sitting down.

Near the big concrete cut-out on the flank/pocket. Actually, there'd a little hard to get too becauise they are higher up.

The Western Bulldogs wishes to advise its Members that due to the high demand for EJ Whitten Social Club the allocation of 10,000 places is close to capacity.

This is an exciting feat for the Club, as it is the first time in our history that this premium category will sell out!

There are just 850 EJ Whitten Social Club add-on packages available for purchase in addition to (or upgrade to) a 2010 game-day membership.

It is important for Western Bulldogs Members who may be considering joining the Social Club in future years to know that 2010 will offer the best possible opportunity for you to access this category for years to come and most importantly it is the ONLY way to guarantee a ticket to the Grand Final*.

When EJ Whitten Social Club membership has reached capacity, Members will be able to join a waiting list in readiness for 2011.

To secure your position and make a payment call Membership Services on 1300 GO DOGS.

This is great to hear, the more the merrier and the more MONEY !

I would be good if the club recognised those who paid this premium year after year, when we had no hope of playinmg in the grand final, not true, I hoped and prayed every year was going to be the year, good things come to those who wait.

Maybe there is something in the pipeline, with the club asking us how long we have been a member.

For the first time in the Club’s history the Membership Department is very excited to announce that the EJ Whitten Social Club has reached its capacity of 10,000 Members and is now SOLD OUT!

To reach this target ahead of the 2010 Season is a great achievement for the Club, however we won't stop until we reach our target of 30,000 Game Day Members.

For Members still wishing to purchase a package that entitles them to a guaranteed Grand Final ticket*, please contact the Business Development team on 1300 GO DOGS! (46 36 47).

In other membership news, the Club currently sits over 21% ahead of figures at the same time last year in total Game Day memberships, with the current tally 21,912. That's 3,918 more than the same time in 2009.

We would like to thank the 23,598 Members who are already behind us in 2010. To those yet to re-new or to our many supporters 'Get Behind Us', and show that you are Red, White and Blue Through and Through. To find out more about available membership packages call Membership Services on 1300 GO DOGS (46 36 47)

I agree, those on here know that the "Pretend" cup, does not mean a lot. But the fickle supporter is encouraged to join by how we go in this and the early games.

Yeah, I'm fairly confident, and I don't want to hassle the club when I don't need it yet, just wanted to check because even though the money went out of my account, if I haven't been allocated a membership and they've now sold out, it could create an issue.

Is there a specific card/pack that social club members get?? I was told on the phone in December that my SC membership was paid automatically. Haven't received anything SC related but didn't know there was anything...

You should get a social club branded scarf and keyring and it should also appear on your membership card.

This gets a run on bigfooty and I have to post, so here is my post. Just looking at the figures we have increased 810, 830 and 700 over the last three weeks. Family day normally sells about 700-800 memberships so with 5 weeks to go and family day we must be some chance to break 25000-26000 before the season starts.

I was pleasantly surprised when I called the Membership Department during the week to hear a recorded message saying that the Social Club was full and that names were being taken to form a waiting list.

They also said that reserved seating was filling fast, and that Gold Level seating was sold out. That can only help the bottom line, and the atmosphere at our home games!!!!

More red white & blue up on level 2, and less ring in supporters from other clubs, can only be a good thing!

It’s an issue the membership team hasn’t had to deal with in the past, and it could have an effect on breaking through the 30K/32K barrier.

Also, If a large portion of the 6000 members yet to sign were previously social club or reserved seat members, they may neglect to sign up this year as they believe there’s ‘no point’ .

Tough biscuits, I say, but it still will have a negative effect on membership revenue.

How does a club like Hawthorn overcome this?

Do they have more Grand Final tickets allocated to their social club/Premiership Gold members (or equivalent)?

Throughandthrough
17-03-2010, 08:55 AM
I believe (?) that the % cut of gf tickets is slightly variable, favouring the team with more members.

I've been a Social Club Member for about 4 or 5 years, and a "full member" since about 1997, and haven't been to one home game in all those years.

So I have little sympathy for Johnny Come Latelys who cry when they miss out.

ANd obviously, if you are a "full member" at least you get an entry to the raffle that the GF ticket allocation is, rather then no chance at all!

I am confident we will break the 30,000 members barrier by the end of this week. Isn't this what we want? more members, or am I on another planet. I agree. I don't care whether they're a Johnny-come-lately or a member since 54. We need them all. It is critical to our very existence.

Once they become a member we are in a better position to secure them as a member in future years.

Sheesh if having a membership to go watch the current team run around in the regular season is not enough, I fear nothing will.

On a side note I was looking at the fixture and noticed that there are 3 Friday night home games (4 with the replacement), 3 Saturday games (or 2 if you take away the interstate but add the replacement) and 5 Sunday games.

Not that it affects me (being in Adelaide) but if I were in Melbourne I wouldn't be able to attend Sundays (I play soccer) and I am sure that certain days don't work for people one way or another. Would offering a membership that you could nominate a specific day to remove be a drawcard? Or would it simply mean existing members changing their memberships?

eg "Friday and Saturday" Membership: 6 Games
"Friday and Sunday" Membership: 9 Games
"Saturday and Sunday" Membership: 7 Games

ABsolutely agree , I hope we get 50,000 members. By my post above i'm not for a millisecond saying I don't welcome the band-waggoners, I think i'm trying to say that i've been a full and social club member for yonks, with no chance of me seeing games and no chance of us making the granny (like many others on here), and as such I have little pity for those complaining about the social club option now being full.

You should get over for a few games this year T&T. Can get flights as cheap as about $38 each way now! Just have to book a bit in advance (and watch the specials). If you are short on time you can even fly in one the red eye on the day of the game, have a long cafe breakfast, visit Bulldog central at WO, grab some Grill'd for lunch (an aboslute must!), go to the game, and then fly back on the last flight.

Number of problems, i'm heavily involved in two different levels of junior footy (school and a club) which takes up nearly every saturday and a few sundays, and a few games @ AAMI as well.

Am eyeing off a weekend in July when Glenelg has a bye, school holidays, and the Dogs play Carlton.

Also have managed to score a work trip to Perth which coincides with a dogs game (5th year in a row, hooray!)
