Western Bulldog recruit Barry Hall kicked
two goals in an intra-club game yesterday.
Barry Hall kicked two goals, took a bunch of marks and earned the crowd's applause for dumping Lindsay Gilbee in the goal square. But just as the Western Bulldogs' star recruit needs more conditioning work before the season starts, explained coach Rodney Eade after yesterday morning's intra-club match, it may take Hall a few more months to completely understand and adapt to the way his new teammates move and use the football.
Matched mostly against young defender James Mulligan, Hall spent most of his morning deep in the forward line, marking and shooting an early handball to Brennan Stack for a goal, then breaking from Mulligan on a quick lead to mark and kick his first goal. After missing a couple of shots he kicked his second in the second half, snaffling a misdirected Gilbee pass and continuing what Eade said was an ongoing effort to learn how the Bulldogs play.
