View Full Version : Recent bogey sides for us

Since we came third for the last two years, let's leave out the two grand finalists from 2008 and 2009.

Otherwise, who are our recent bogey sides and why?

Seems to me both Carlton and WCE have given us more grief than their ladder positions would suggest. And from memory, it's always hard to play the Crows at AAMI.

Were WCE and Carlton just lucky or have their coaches figured out something about us?

Those two sides had beaten us more than they should have over recent times. For some reason I think we will have their measure this year but might struggle against a side like North.

No - Just got us at an opportune time.
For Instance
West Coast beat us twice in 09
1st occasion was our second trip west in very hot conditions in 4 weeks. We also had a short turnaround for the game. 2nd occasion we were gearing up for a tough run home and not really tuned in for the game.

Carlton got us after the West Coast game and we were still flat.

In 08 carlton got us after the Geelong game we had been primed up for and left flat.

I get nervous about games vs Carlton, and after '09, the Weagles.

I have been a member for years and when were shite in the 1960's and Carlton were a premier team we always seemed to have a red hot go and were not disgraced all that often.

The last 3 years we have been defeated by Carlton on 3 occaisions. So 2010 is about to correct the ledger.

Melbourne seem to play well against us...there was a game a year or two ago (might have been in that wonderful stretch at the end of 07 actually) where they beat us, and they came close last year.

Agree about Carlton and WC though, Carlton worry me a lot lot lot lot less without Fev, but I think WC will do quite well this year.

The saints. Their height has always seems to trouble us (except in 2008 when we beat them twice and it seemed like they had too many talls and their height was a weakness ).

Anyway they get my vote.

They always match up well against us.

Geelong - they have an excellent finals record against us in recent memory.

Distant memory as well - they've beaten us something like 9 times on the trot in finals dating back to the 1976 Elimination Final. That is an unbelievably lop-sided historical statistic.

Agree, in finals, they have beaten us in every final since I can remember, including 1976, 1992, 1994, 2008, 2009.

Carlton always seem to beat us and last year it was the Saints in three games.

Carlton. Used to be North also, but we get them now. WCE were just bad timing and lack of concerntration.

Just watching North and West Coast play in the Nab cup I think they could push us again this year.

I think WCE will do well this year. Possibly push for 7th-8th position. North also will do well and could possible push for 8th imo
