AFL umpires will wear the logo of eye care company OPSM for the next two years under a deal announced today.
The company will offer free vision testing at selected games as part of its sponsorship of the umpiring department.
AFL umpires’ manager Jeff Gieschen said umpires had already benefitted from OPSM’s service for several years.

:D Years ago, playing in a basketball game, a teammate said to a referee "OPSM"...and promptly received a technical foul. If only he'd waited ten years to say it.

Funniest thing, on a serious note, is that their lenses are crap. Ditto shop staff.
Makes sense the umps have OPSM opticals NB the ones who ump Saints games nearest Roo.

It was the first game of a new season after having glasses precribed during the off-season.
Walked onto the field and Greg Chappell said, About f******* time"
Good bloke, Greg

That is gold!! :D
Also, Steggles are now sponsoring the Sydney Roosters in the NRL. Funny, but not as clever as OPSM sponsoring umpires!! ;)

The problem is that spectacles are no help with blindness.

The problem is that spectacles are no help with blindness.
Or stupidity.
Or attention seeking-ness.
Or infatuation with Nick Riewoldt.

When this sponsorship was announced I thought about time. After two rounds I can't perceive any improvement.
When I got my glasses the improvement was immediate.
Can someone more knowledgeable about such matters tell me what time delay one should expect in the case of umpires?
