That maybe so, but how many did his opponent get?
To be honest, I was stumped trying to pick anyone past the first two.

Who was he playing on?
You could say that for most of the side tonight, but as I said it was a token pick as there wasn't much else after the first two. Maybe I should have put Grant at 3.:o
Who was he playing on?
He spent periods on Zaharakis and Monfries.

4 Hall - someone who stood up, and had a crack. Despite Rocket saying otherwise, we need his goalkicking. And he delivered
3 - Huddo- Took some nice grabs, strong work.
2 - Picken - had a go.
1 - Grant - presented OK, a few good grabs. Shows something.
Jeez that was hard work.

1- Cooney
I know Cooney's efficiency was 50% and that he butchered the ball a lot but I thought his grunt work in the clearances especially was great. 5 tackles, 9 clearances (game high) and 11 contested disposals.
Cooney has been a quality player for awhile but I feel that he is a different player this year. He has added out and out grunt to his game. Just love the guy at the moment.

I tend to agree. Couldn't fit him in my votes this week, because he didn't finish off his good work, but is certainly coming into very good form and looking super sharp and powerful.

Absolutely agree Rocco, thought Cooney was good last night despite his few shanks and his contested game has indeed got to the point of being one of the best in the competition.
4 - Hudson - loves a challenge.
3 - Griffen - won just about every ball that came his way and then carried the ball with intent on top of that.
2 - Cooney - dynamic as ever.
1 - Lake - patrolled the defensive fifty well.
I refuse to give Barry Hall votes because he kicked 5 goals, the amount of sitters he dropped was appalling, he has to know that when he demands the ball like that and then doesn't mark it, it will just be whisked away by the opposition.

I didn't give Cooney votes based on the fact that his grunt work was marred by his terrible disposal, winning the ball and then giving it back. At least Hall put it through the big sticks.

It might be unfair but Coons is such a special player that his papers are marked harder than most. His inside 50 delivery on several occasions in the 3rd qtr, under no pressure whatsoever, was a contributing factor in our loss, and for that reason alone I just couldn't fit him in the votes. Agree that his clearance work and his workrate in the clinches was exceptional.

Cooney got the ball moving in the right direction despite his errors, Hall's errors resulted in instant possession for them. That was the difference between the two.

Definitely agree with most of that.
I think a lot of posters judge players relative to their usual standard when voting which I try not to do.
I do also agree that he butchered the ball during the 3rd quarter but I am of the view that it's better to be up and about and butchering it a lot than just being a passenger for long periods during the game. If a player wins his own ball I am much more tolerate to them butchering it. Overall I think his exceptional work at the stoppages/in tight made up for the stuff ups that came from opportunities gained from his hard work anyway. I had him as 4th best of an ordinary lot to be honest. It was between him and Hall and I think Barry's 5 goals were pretty easy, he was a big focus during the night and Fletch burned him going the other way. Still a good game from Hall.
