Big Big risk taking players in with injury clouds! Just watching Hodge struggle I'm worried about Griffen's input tonight..

Custom made night for Timmy.
Just hope that the backs are ready and fit for a big night.

Yep, ready made excuse for going to ground in the contest.

Defies all logic, that he wouldnt play all year and be selected in our first final
I would have been happier to see the kid Hooper debut

The MC are worse than the players.
... And that's saying something.

Why?
Was Callan not ok?
Certainly wasn't our worst in my opinion.

I thought Timmy did OK tonight. I'd have him in next week as well at this stage.

To single out foot soldiers like Callan or Addison is missing the point completely (irrespective, both were OK tonight). Our problems lie with the senior core.

It's probably in the wrong thread as I didn't mean to relate it directly to Callan. He was OK and was much better than three quarters of the list.
Playing Johnson, Higgins and Hahn is downright dumb though.

Me too. I know he's not the most skilled player going around, but given his ability to come in for his first game of the year and stick to instructions and not give ground, I find it hard to believe he has not been able to get a game this year.

Because no matter how well he played at Willi he never got a single game in the senior team and was placed in the delisted pile, only for MC to magically change their opinion of him and give him a game in a final, WTF?
If he did well (which he did ok) then why wasn't he given a look in earlier? if he played poorly then what a stupid move tha was? No matter how Timmy played it was a perplexing decision.

He contested bravely. But geez, he would not make the pies team by any stretch.

Callan was ok tonight, he competed hard and kept his feet reasonably well. Certainly a serviceable enough game for the 22nd man.

He's not alone in not making the Pies team.
I'm full of positivity for the next generation:
Ward
Roughead
Reid
Williams
Jones
Grant
Picken
Hopefully, Cordy, Wallis, Libba.
They'll be a good side. Possibly very good.
I have no faith what-so-ever in Gia/Hargrave/Gilbee/Hahn and the majority of those older than them (Huddo & Hall aside).
Time to cut and cut deep. Maybe we slide next year and only just make the 8 - but a short dip with a genuine shot at the flag is better than just finishing 4-6 each and every year.

Jesus wept. We have been down this road before. In any case, I will go down it one more time.

Agreed.
If he's dropped next week and Hahn is in the team, then the Dogs and Eade have jumped the shark (to use TV parlance).

Sure, he wasn't, but would you have had him play VFL all year to prepare for a semi-final
Considering he hadn't played all year he actually had a very good game, but should he not have had other opportunities earlier to get him ready for this
Is he really the man to match up on Davis and Didak?

No, I would have thought that Wood, Harbrow or Morris would be first choice.
But seeing as though 2 of those are out injured and the other one has a 'bung' shoulder we had to look at other options, Callan was probably the only one.

Harbrow when at his 'best' has been torn a new one by Davis a couple of times.
In terms of defence, Callan is significantly better than Harbrow.
