Had a look and couldn't see a thread about this.

First time I've ever gone, girlfriend bought me tickets for my birthday, so I'm pretty excited (although we haven't actually received the tickets yet?).

A question though, for those who've been before, how long does the night usually run? I know it says midnight, but how accurate is that, in general? My Dad's 50th birthday is on the same night, I'd like to pop in for a bit haha.

If people would like to post their predictions, go for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lake, Harbrow and Gia give Boyd a run for his money.

If I remember correctly, all the formalities finished much earlier than 11, and then people started dancing/mingling etc. I got the impression they wanted everyone to leave by midnight, hence stating the time on the ticket and finishing up so much earlier.

Hopefully your Dad's party isn't too far away! :)

Doubt many people here would've had Gia coming top 3. Fair effort, and shows he's thought of differently internally than by a larger percentage of the fans (me included).

Cooney missed 5 games + went off injured at the 5 minute mark of the 1st qtr in another.

If Cooney hadn't missed these games I would think he would have finished top 3.

Great work Griff - awesome year. Looking forward to a Cooney, Griffen, Boyd, Cross, Ward, Wallis, Liberatore midfield in a couple of years; if the kids reach their potential should be an exciting group, especially with Ayce and Roughy.

No surprise to me Gia rated highly, had a fine season topped off by a super semi final, very consistent and more than likely will be the next captain. Seems to polarise fans but i see him as a super important member of the team.

Gia third in the best and fairest?????
Hmmmmm maybe he sets a good example on the training track. Maybe he performed very well in the Aker witch hunt. I just can't see how he was perceived by the match committee to have given a better season than Boyd, Lake, Hall or Huddo. I'd love to sit down with th vote givers and have them explain their votes on a game by game basis. I'd think most votes would have been polled against the lower teams.

I am not a typical woof Gia hater. I just don't think he was the third best player for the year...

Maybe he had a good season? Think of that?

I knew Gia would be up there he had a very good season this year but for Gia to be rated amongst fans he needs to rack up 35 possessions a game 10 tackles and 5 goals.

His best game of the season was against a Grand Finalist, the Saints, was easily one of our best against Geelong on THAT night and was also very good in those slogs in the wet against Adelaide and Melbourne.

I thought he had a terrific year myself, did what was asked of him most weeks. Kicked 35 goals for year & got plenty of the pill, as well as shutting down players at times.

Averages below.

Gia had some great games acknowledged by all. Remember when Boyd was out.

He also sacrificed his game for the team on more than one occasion. I recall a shut down job on Heath Shaw where he limited Shaw as required but got less of the pill than the supporters wanted.

Harbrow came 13th, polled 72. I was enormously surprised by that, thought he'd be a certainty for top 10. They showed all of the top 30's scores, only notable not included in the 30 was Aker.

Gia third surprised me. As much as it's been a good year, I didn't think he was third best. Huddo or Hall did a lot of good things. Well done to Griff though, I'd hoped he would win but didn't think it was overly likely (I thought they'd just give it to Cross or Boyd again).

They showed a clip of Rocket's address to the team after the Prelim, was interesting to see. Talked about how we're a good side, but to be a 'cream' side we need to lift our intensity, tackling, contested possessions. Kept referring to the entire club, saying that everyone (admin, support staff, Williamstown players etc) need to put in for us to be successful. Really enjoyed it.

In his actual speech he spoke about Bulldog Spirit, said that it's our version of the Bloods and Saints Footy. Will be interesting to see how much they run with that now. Thanked Tim Callan for his services, I was surprised by that as I thought he would stick around.

Craig Willis was the MC (at an AFL function? Craig Willis? I don't believe it!!). I never knew he was a Bulldogs supporter, but it was evident the way he spoke about things like Johnno, Griff, talking about the prelim disappointment, that he is as passionate as any of us. He did a really good job, covered for a few technical stuff-ups.

At the start of the night, they showed clips of all the past winners. For a younger supporter (I'm only 20), this was awesome as I had previously only seen pictures of so many of these greats of our club. I feel it also assisted in my attempts at converting the girlfriend from Essendon to Dogs.

Overall it was an awesomely good night. Got Johnno to sign his book, he was unsurprisingly the most approachable person in the place. I didn't really get any goss from other players, and didn't see Rocket so I couldn't ask about trades.

I'm sure I've missed stuff but other people will elaborate.

Oh and DaDruid/Adam's teeth look awesome! haha.
