Given the injuries etc and after yesterdays hit out what sort on line-up do you think we will field against Geelong and North Melbourne?

If he is fit I'd like to see Barlow included and I would think we could even use Hahn.

It will be interesting to see how we use the 4 ruckman and if Cordy is used as a defender.

We would have to lock Wallis and Howard in for a run.

Any other suggestions?

Moles, Wallis and Djerkurra may all be battling it out for a sub spot so you'd expect them to be going hammer and tong.

Barlow seemed to be struggling with a thigh issue so he may miss. Murphy is out for another week with the ankle - Howard should take his spot across the half back line.

How many do you think they will play and or are they limited, by the rules as to how many??
Would suggest some senior players may have a rest and a few newbies will get a run!

We are playing two games in a row so the only guys we can bring into our side for the 2nd game are those on our emergency list/rest of squad (however it works, anyway about 4 changes max).

Teams with a break get to make as many changes as they want.

This also keeps opposition coaches guessing leading up to the regular season.
NAB is so different, no flooding, missing KPPs, better off to use it as you say OTB, wheel out the kids who might not get much of a run in the regular season..Libba etc.
Hope they put Barry / Huddo on ice.

DJ, Howard, Wallis, Vezpremi, Sherman should all play as should Markovic, and I'd be inclined to give Cordy a run also

Though that said - how many players are in the squads are NAB cup games

Eade currently on the radio just mentioned that Schofield will get a game,

Was happy with Higgins, Wallis, Skinner, Gia, Roughead.

DJ and Sherman did a few things without setting the world on fire, Vez didn't do much.

Wants to win NAB cup but will go in with a measured approach to certain players.

Demograhpics of the group has changed with the influx of younger players and exit of older players.

Although he probably has a lot more to offer towards winning a game than some other players I don't see the value in selecting Hahn.

This year Hahn just needs to keep fit and hopefully in form at Willy.

Every other listed player should be considered for selection before Hahn.

To be honest I would rather see Zeph butcher the ball all day long than see Hahn spear it lace out to Hall, 40 out directly in front.

My sentiments don't extend past the NAB cup matches however.

I have not been to Skilled before and am unsure on a couple of things.

Are there likely to be any issues with seating if just using general admission?

Not sure if I should pre book. On the one hand it is only NAB cup but having three teams involved makes me a little unsure........

Any thoughts fellow Woofers?

Don't go over the city side of the ground, esp early on as you wont see much due to the sun being in your eyes from memory.

There are also some areas where support poles have been strategically placed to limit ones viewing.

Thanks Coon Dog, I had looked at the train times and fares, but the train home was too close to the end of the last game. With games 30 mins earlier works out good now. FYI from Werribee train is only $6.60 return for adults, kids free and Concession $3.30, could not drive for that. There is a train from Werribee at 2:26pm and one home leaving at 7:42pm, games should be finished by 7pm. These trains are two and from South Geelong which is 5 mins walk to ground.

I've never been to Skilled Stadium before either. I can't decide whether to go or not. I'm an AFL member, I just find the NAB Cup really boring. Especially this format. In general, football doesn't entertain me like it once did. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the greatness of the NBA over the years and the recent love for the NFL coming to the fore that has changed my mind about our game.

I read on the club website there is a legends game on with our NAB game on Sunday. Must be having them at all the games, had one last Saturday night at Etihad as well.
Should be a nit of fun, and better than watching the grass grow.

That was my entire passionate Bulldogs family. All of us were indifferent going in, I hated both sides, but for some reason we all decided to go for St.Kilda. We were very into it, I even tolerated Milne.

Well Collingwood played 2 useless teams so cant count that.

Mainly posted it because they seemed to make an issue on telly of keeping warmed up.
If a team having the rest then goes out and gets a couple of muscle injuries I wonder if the press will jump on it or teams for that matter.

Of the 3 pools played, one was won by a team playing 1st & 2nd (Melbourne), one was won by a team playing 1st & 3rd (West Coast) & one was won by a team playing 2nd & 3rd (Collingwood).

KB was blaming the fact that the tiges got fatigued against a stronger fresher and more experienced opponent in collingwood. The bottom line was that the tiges ran out of legs after already playing a game and the pies were fresh.

I'm not sure what i think exactly but i would of thought it would be an advantage to play the last 2 games, because you get a team that is semi fatigued and then 1 that has had a long break.

There are also arguements to say otherwise.

I know that we can only swap from players that are listed on our emergency list. But I wasn't sure how big the emergency list was...

Whatever the case, it's a good squad. Hopefully the young guys get a good go. Cats named a reasonably strong squad as well (Ling, Scarlett, Varcoe and Byrnes only main ones missing), so should be a good contest.

Mulligan must be a concern, been around for a while now and in the very least given our lack of tall defenders, should be getting a run in this competition.

Tutt I'm not willing to write off yet, but he'd want to have a consistent season playing VFL seniors to guarantee himself a spot for 2012. He's not needed just yet because we have a few blokes who can play that role, but we've again drafted a couple of guys that could play there so he'll need to be careful he doesn't fall behind them in the pecking order.

I agree, Tutt still has a bit of respect coming from me. I saw on a few occasions at Williamstown. Enough flashes of class that will keep me confident of that. Was on the flank at VFL Prelim final at Box Hill when he kicked a running, bouncing goal that won Almost Football Legends later that week. That goal was noice! :D

He has also every chance of playing NAB Cup for we have four rounds till we hold it up again.

Veszpremi is not listed as injured , but he has a thigh strain does,nt he ?

So if we want to give some younger guys a chance the squad could look like this

FB- Djerrkura Markovic Howard
HB- Gilbee Williams Wood
C- Wallis Boyd Moles
R- Minson Ward Picken
HF- Grant Jones Skinner
F- Hooper Panos Higgins

Bench- Roughead Griffen Sherman Sub- Giansiracusa

Look pretty good to me , would be happy to see that side run out

If the club sees Cordy as a CHB, then how many KPDs is too many to name in a NAB Cup Round Robin squad? It appears Mulligan is rated behind Williams, Markovic and Cordy, but surely that is no surprise.

Not sure about Hahn playing. Would much rather Dahlhaus, at least he is a rookie who may play a part in the club's future. I know Hahn can play KPP but do we really need him to?

I tend to agree on the Hahn call, but with Hall missing the forward line looks to be missing some experience & bulk when you consider that Grant, Panos, Jones & Roughead are all pretty light on in both areas. Hopefully Hahn can add some experience and grunt to take the heat off the young guys.

I wouldn't worry about the heat being on the young guys- don't think Geelong are playing Scarlett and the only real worry in the North defense is cheap shot Thompson.

I would hope Jones & Roughead can look after themselves physically - they are in the mid 90kg range aren't they?
I really would have liked to look at someone else rather than Hahn, who will only play if we have to upgrade a rookie anyway. I guess the final list of which players are cut for the game hasn't been released yet so we can wait & see.

But I guess the reality is that these games aren't played solely for the purpose of showing off new players to fans. The coaching panel gets to see all the players at each training session. Pre-season games are about conditioning and game plan development. If the coaching staff have absolutely no intention of playing Hahn (if an injury arises) then we should not have rookied him, he is certainly not a development player. If it is quite likely that he may end up getting games, then he needs to get game time experience with Hall, Roughhead, Jones, Grant, Vezpremi etc. The NAB cup is the time and place to do this.

Hahn may well have also been included because we need to be able to structure the team in a similar manner to the way we want to play the season. With so many senior bigger bodied players out, Hahn might be needed to play the "Barry Hall role" for a time, or to give a chop out in another key position post. We might also want to give Williams and/or Markovic a run up forward and Hahn can play a key defender role. Hahn is one of the most versatile players on our extended list as well as being able to do a lot of the grunt work that the younguns often can't.

Good post. We need to improve the way we play with a quality KPF, going through the NAB cup without Hall or some sort of replacement for him would be a mistake IMO.

If Hall is injured or suspended through the year, there's every chance Hahn will take his place then aswell.
