Can't believe I'm the one to start it. This kid is a star!
Leaps tall opponents in a single bound, takes spectacular marks, dominates the day after 12 hours of travel - he is some sort of talent!

Veszpremi & Jones better watch their backs, he'll be playing round 1 at this rate! Who else is excited!! :D:D:D

As Big Kev (RIP) himself would say: "I'm excited!"

Not sure if Skinner is playing in this weeks final practice match, but surely another solid performace will put him right in the mix for selection.

I'm certainly Excited too with all the new talent that we have picked up, plus with all the talent that we have previously had as well as all the guys.
Everyone seems to be on a "MISSION" to play in the seniors.
I intend to travel to Ballarat this w/e to see some of it 1st hand again. :D

Only 18 days to go, but who's counting ;)

He would be coming from a long way back and I doubt he would be, but I guess if he is given a game this week he might be a chance.

Personally I wouldn't have him in the first 25 to 28 just yet... But I didn't see the game in Bunbury so I don't know on the back of that performance who he could have jumped ahead of.

Let's just see how he goes at Williamstown first.

Winter in Melbourne changes things a bit, especially when you come from a very rural area up north. If he can continue to improve each week and not lose focus then i'm sure he'll be a excellent player.

Long way to go just yet.

theres a fair chance he will play in WA if the Bunbury game is anything to go by.

Why?

Due to size of the ground in WA it would be the last place I would be taking a player who's biggest drawback is his physical fitness.

Heat factor, the sub does not need a huge tank. If he can play 55 minutes and kick 4 during the home and away, I would take that!

Good point. I just worry about his vulnerability to injury. Some conditioning in Willy may be the best option.

I liken Zeph's career with Josh Hill when he first started with us.

Background aside, both are laconic leaping/marking type players.
I still think Josh played his best football in that breakout year. He would jump in off 1 step from the side of a pack and take a mark in front of the contest. After a while to opposition woke up to this and started making contact an negating his leap.
After that his confidence to jump was shot and he still doesn't do it to this day.

Skinner will quite possibly follow the same path, he could set the world on fire early with his natural talents but once his game is known to all out there, that will be his real challenge i believe.

I just hope he will have the fortitude to handle it.

The difference is though Zeph is also well known for his defensive pressure and tackling...something Josh has severely lacked.

I love the Air Zephaniah idea, if you don't mind TAC I took that idea, did a vector trace of the photo (as closely as possible, it's bloody hard with such a poor-resolution image) so the quality is better and picked a nice font (in this case, DIN Condensed). This would make a terrific t-shirt…

If the Big Z can make his way into the side and get regular game time, I,d be happy if the Club used the poster as part of the membership advertising. I,ve tried to find other good photo's of him but there not too many and some of the better ones are too small to use. Glad you like the poster, as the season goes on I,ll collect photo's and make some more

Looks awesome mate, I am more than happy for you to run with the idea. Adding to Gogriff's sentiments I think if you made his figure slightly smaller and a little higher it would add some 'height'.

I still quite like the idea of the solid colour ala the Jordan image too, but I certainly think that this design is a winner and would definitely part with some coin for one.

LostDoggy

OK folks, it's live — with some edits as requested, moved him higher, made him a silhouette in keeping with the Air Jordan idea, etc. — and available for purchase in three different colours — red, white and blue:

http://www.redbubble.com/people/bornabulldog/t-shirts/6952458-3-air-zephaniah---white
http://ih0.redbubble.net/work.6952458.3.fig,white,mens,fbfbfb.air-zephaniah---white-v3.jpg

http://www.redbubble.com/people/bornabulldog/t-shirts/6969994-1-air-zephaniah---blue
http://ih2.redbubble.net/work.6969994.1.fig,royal_blue,mens,fbfbfb.air-zephaniah---blue-v3.jpg

http://www.redbubble.com/people/bornabulldog/t-shirts/6970002-1-air-zephaniah---red
http://ih2.redbubble.net/work.6970002.1.fig,red,mens,fbfbfb.air-zephaniah---red-v3.jpg

I've put a 20% markup on the shirts, equal to about $5 for each shirt. Proceeds to go to the upkeep of WOOF.

DOG GONE

"ON a weekend when the AFL was celebrating all things indigenous, the Western Bulldogs' exciting prospect Zeph Skinner was a long way from the fanfare.

Skinner was back home, outside Broome in Western Australia, all week as the Dogs prepared to take on West Coast.

There had been talk Skinner had packed up his bags and quit for good after being dropped after his debut against Sydney in Round 7, but the Dogs last night shot down the rumours.

Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia confirmed Skinner was back in the Kimberley, but said he went home at the urging of the club.

Fantasia said the club had given him time off to alleviate any chance of homesickness brewing.

He said he would join the Dogs in Perth today and travel back with the team after the Eagles game."

I wish Z-Man all the best , it's a fine balance for any Indigenous player from a remote community to get between the training/ hard graft and keeping in contact with the family. I,m sure he had a knock to his confidence being asked to come on as the Sub against the Swans and having little impact , it was a tough gig but one the Club thought he could handle. He's seen now the level he must reach , a solid year with Williamstown and a good pre-season to pack a few kilos should see him in the mix next year

Based on what? Going home, for a visit when he may have felt homesick. Something like this may have kept Harbrow on our list. If I'm not mistaken Griffen went home a few times in his early days too, even before his father got sick.

Care to elaborate? Interested, that's all.

I think he just needs to be managed - it's a massive culture shock to go from playing in a remote league two years ago, then to the "big smoke" of NT to play in that league (which has a high proportion of indigenous talent anyway) then to come to Melbourne.

Jurrah & Rioli had both been given time off too from memory.

Unlike Thorne, Zephi has at least been playing football and doesn't have an immediate family to supprt.
