Williams is playing on Hall.
Woods running off half back regularly, but his disposal is letting him down.
Coon getting plenty of it.

How does he look?

I saw the last 5 minutes of the 1st half and all of the 2nd. He didn't touch the ball too many times, but looled to be moving ok.

Libba and Wallace playing on each other

Did you travel back in time?;)

How did the boys go against each other? You'd almost think that was a fight for a debut on Rd 1.

Does that mean cooney and lake wont be playing for Williamstown today?

Yep.

I had heard earlier in the week that Sherman, Skinner & Reid were the only 'name' players who would be running around with Willi this afternoon.... not sure if that's changed, but seeing as though there was match practice today not many (if any) would be backing up.

Surely these two need a hitout against real opposition (albeit VFL)?
Not simulated sessions without real tackling. I'm going at 4pm to watch the VFL game anyway!

I can't see how Wallis would be in consideration for Round 1 considering he didn't make the team of 25 against North Melbourne. Besides the players who missed with injury concerns I doubt anyone outside of that squad would be considered for Round 1 selection.

Yes they all played against Box Hill today. Sherman was good without really standing out, Skinner kicked a couple and id some clever things, but stood with his hands on his head alot and Reid got in and under. Cordy, Prato, Tutt also played ok and we had no injuries to speak of. Hodge was the only Hawk that I could see.

FWIW I was at training for a brief time on friday morning and saw about half of the second half. I was working and couldnt really give the football my full attention.

But Barlow looked a lot better in the ruck than I expected him to look. Big, aggressive and ran in a straight line at the ball in ruck contests. Then again Hudson was pretty laid back. At one stage everyone was waiting in the middle of the ground to restart and Huddo just wandered back in his own good time.

The players change shape and appearence so much from one season to the next these days it was really hard to tell who is who. It might just be that we lost so many senior players at seasons end last year and have turned the list over so much but if Aker39 hadnt been standing with me I wouldnt have been able to pick more than 10% of the players on each team.

A couple of others of things that stood out to me. Cooney is back to his best and Liam Jones will be one of the best contested marks in the compettion in a couple of years.
