Agree. Hard to judge our first 2 weeks against the (more than likely) 2 bottom sides. Time to stick it up those critics with a solid win, followed up with a good performance vs Feralwood

If we win and we can win, the 4 points and the team confidence will be invaluable.

Turn up with the G and D, we had in the finals campaign against St Kilda when we gutsed our way through the finals, we can win with this team we have named on paper!!

For all those West Australian based Bulldog supporters, or for those that have made the trip over, there is a pre-match function at the Irish Club starting at 4pm.
There is always great auctions of Bulldog memorabilia, raffles, and some nights a few if the players and coaches come back to the Irish Club for a drink.

I don't think Stack suits the sub rule mentally. I also prefer the role to go to a 'just another runner' type to someone in a relatively designated role.

No run and spread equals no options when we win the ball (which we're doing very well).

Positives are that our contested work and tackling is pretty good. Our clearances are also much improved on previous weeks.

Pav and Sandilands are having a huge influence.

Huge problem right there.

We're breaking down a lot at the half forward line. Do we have an extra player down back because there always seems to be someone else hanging around Hall.

angelopetraglia

Two school boy errors from huddo and higgo result in two goals for them when it looked like we had the momentum and could have gone 20 points up.

When they put that hard forward press on us, we can't rely on pin point 40m passes to a marked man to get us out of trouble. We need other options, like Collingwood (i.e. Go long down the line to a contest where we have the numbers).

What your comment shows is that you understand very, very little about clearance work. Sorry, Hudson is doing a very good job inside at stoppages and is impacting the game. If you think Boyd and Ward are able to impact at ground level without the assistance and commitement of the ruckman, you are kidding yourself.

As for the 'drop a pudding' comment, to the list of players who have dropped soda's today please add the names Markovic, Hall, Higgins, Grant (x 3), Stack, Hill, Lake, Boyd, Cross...the list goes on. Apart from Lake and Huddo none have directly led to an opposition goal...but I would contend the Grant ones, Higgins and Hall would very likely have led to Bulldogs goals. Fine - burn Hudson for the dropped mark but there are a few other names to add to the list.

Doesn't appear to be. Great conditions

Its about 90% humidity though , intensity has gone up again but we still can't score , Hall has kicked out on the full again, Morris and Murphy shutdown Ballantyne but now he is on Libba , Higgins seems like he playing as the extra man in defense , just not clean enough in possession, no real running through the corridor , Cooney too quiet

I think you're right, but his lack of confidence is manifesting into poor efforts. Given our lack of marking inside our forward line, I wonder whether subbing him out for Wallis, and try to go smaller in our forward line.

We had most of the play in what was a scrappy quarter, yet I feel Freo will feel the more confident team going into the last change, in that despite the Dogs having more of the ball, they will feel that the Dogs goal really came from sloppy Freo play as opposed to Dogs brilliance. On the other hand, there goal was through good use of the ball.

Honestly i thought it was a pretty hard tough contest. Yes there were alot of errors and mistakes by both teams, but pressure wise it was a strong effort. Just had too many players that didnt play 4 qtrs. Cooney is very lacklustre sometimes and although he shouldve kicked that goal, to be 7 pts up with 4 mins remaining, we shouldve been able to hang on as we had all the momentum at that point.
