Was at Eve nightlclub last night and guess who I saw...
Libba, Sherman, Higgins, Barlow, Addison, Dahlhaus, Howard, Huddo, Cordy. Probably a couple more can't remember. I did get a photo with Sherman, Libba & Dahlhaus and with Higgins on my way out.
I asked if Rodney knew they were out drinking, they said "yes" with a chuckle. Hopefully they didn't get too drunk for this week.

Oh noes!!! When Mark Robinson has a look at this thread(and you just KNOW that he reads WOOF) this will be the #1 news story in tomorrow's H/S : "Dogs Stars on Drunken Rampage". Damn you, Danstar! Damn you to hell! :p

A couple of years ago I started a 'Top Ten messages on Terry Wallace's answering machine' on the Bay 13 forum of Bigfooty. 2 Weeks later Robbo referred to it in a column about Wallace. I was a hero on Bay 13 for a couple of weeks, it was my little moment in the spotlight.

Last night I was at the 'Superstars of the Whitten Oval' function at the Crown Palladium, all the players were in attendance having an enjoyable evening and a few drinks. That is probably why you saw some of them kicking on at Eve afterwards. Great night and a lot of old greats attended the function. The most memorable moment was annouced in our club history and that was the fightback of 89.

BB how was the attendance last night, I really wanted to go but had a clash I couldn't get out of? Hopefully they raised some more money to pay the debt.

Bornadog, I would say perhaps around 500-600 attended, good turnout. There was silent auctions happening with the jumpers that the boys wore on Friday night. There was a mill of people around a table putting their names down. So no doubt they would have raised a bit there.
Great to see some of the ex players attending, Geoff Jennings was there, Laurie Sandilands, Libba, Simon Beasley, Doug Hawkins to name a few.
Plenty of speeches...the great man Chris Grant, the lovable Charlie Sutton, Johnno and Rohan Smith and Dougie Hawkins spoke about his relationship with EJ. Peter Gordon came on and spoke about the fightback, it was a trip down memory lane. It truly was a great evening.

I think it's fantastic they can still have a life. Would be very hard in your early 20's if you could never go out.
...anyway who cares they may as well get on it.. seasons shot anyway! (Joking:p)

Was there as well great night out. Spent a bit of the hard earned a couple of items - all for a good cause.
Was leaving when most of the 'kids' got in a taxi bus. They were just having a good time, nothing to serious.

I was there last night night but had to leave after the formalities were finished around 11:00pm. Had a chat to Will Minson while waiting for a cab. Suprised to see him leave so early, must have been on his way to one of Melbourne's swinging jazz clubs.

No, I actually didn't see Lake there, he did get a poke in the eye whilst playing for Williamstown and someone in the foyer mentioned that he went to hospital for tests.

He actually has a test/exam on tomorrow...so home to study - that would probably explain why he left earlier. He mentioned that on SEN on Saturday.

If they were there post function then they're probably club issued, sans tie.

I'm glad you posted this Danstar, but I think your title gives the thread negative connotations. Maybe that's because of today's media.
(Love the photo by the way) ;)

To tell you the truth I was a bit worried when I read they had been to Eve Night Club. I had no idea what that was and it sounded like some lesbian hangout or sumfin (NTTAWWT). :p

A friend managed to get along on Saturday and noticed it was pretty easy to tell the young bucks from the more mature ones, with the odd exception. He was a little surprised about the level of alcohold consumed by some players but didn't think much of it. Said it was a great night and the players and staff were very kind and accessible.
Good to see the lads getting out and enjoying themselves. I just wish they would stay away from glam boganista hang outs (which most footballers tend to struggle to do) in club kit.

If only Brennan Stack or DJ were there, It would have looked like a Miami Vice casting call from 1985. Magnificent hair on those boys. Don Johnson would be proud

Looking sharp.
For some reason I thought Dahl was much shorter than that. Looks here to be the same height more or less as Sherm and Danstar. Maybe Sherman is shorter than I thought.

I think you'll find that Dahl is in the foreground and is considerably shorter than Sherman's 6 feet.

What prophetic words - If only Brennan Stack or DJ were there.
Would certainly dilute the negative impression everyone now has of him
