Laying prone and being eye gouged is a truly horrible feeling. The likes of Wheatley are foolish and have no idea how much it can rattle someone.

Just saw this tonight, this is the most disgraceful act on the footy field since the bad old days of thuggery.
Toby *!*!*!*!ing Greene is a grub and thug and deserves at least 5 weeks. He has been reported 16 times before. The AFL must act now or they are just gutless pricks.
What about Himblebum throwing one as well when Bont is on the ground. Has he been cited?
Bont had a clear scratch mark under his eye throughout the game. Greene is ****ed.
For a moment, just put aside the morals or the physical harm of Greene's actions.
Given the video surveillance of games and the consequences at the Tribunal, it is just plain dumb.
Who was pulling Toby Greene off Bont? Bailey Smith after a fair bit of time had passed. We left it to a first year player to stand up for our gun player being attacked by a grub. West wasn’t too far away either. Two first year players. Neither took a backward step all day either.

I disagree to a certain extent. GWS broke the rules repeatedly. The actual rules and the rules of sportsmanship. The rules of basic decency and fair play.
Yes to a certain extent 'we' let them. But it was the umpires who let them. the umpiring performance was disgraceful to the point of scandalous.
It should be reviewed.
If that was a suburban or country game of football not many GWS players would have left the carpark with their jaws in one piece. It was totally and utterly filthy dirty nasty play from them all day. The footage of Toby Greene Holding Bont by the hair and slamming his face into the ground RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE UMPIRE is enough for those umpires to never work in the AFL again.
I am so livid about this. I can accept losing but I can't accept watching a pack of dirty snivelling pigs get away with the lowest of acts ALL DAY and not be punished. I will hate GWS and Leon Cameron forever after that game.
And, by the way, look at the footage of Toby Greene Mauling a defenceless Bontempelli pinned down by someone else. That is not 'brutal finals footy' that is out and out criminal assault on a defenceless victim. Brutal finals footy my arse.
There were so many dirty acts all day, it was just deplorable, and they got away with it from the first quarter. Just needed to pay a few free kicks and 50 metre penalties and that is it. I don't know how many times players were slammed into the turf after they kicked the ball and the umpire had the cheek to report Suckling for a bump to the side of Kelly
There was a clear downfield at the start of the second or third quarter that was missed, from that point I'd given up on there being any hope the umpires would call out the underhanded stuff.
Funny thing is, people actually think the Giants were being harshly done by in terms of umpiring yesterday.
It's a very fine line between getting possession and getting instantaneously tackled - Richmond have been the masters at this since 2017. It's a loophole in the system that allows players to physically hurt opponents legally - players are open and vulnerable at the point of impact.
Condemning Greene for his on-field actions is fine. Are we going to be similarly scathing of Daniel Southern, Tony Liberatore, Jose and Dimma? We can't have it both ways.
GWS mugged us yesterday, and while some of it was illegal most of it was them being first to the ball and far hungrier than us - have we ever been belted by so much in CP's in the last decade?. We should have absolutely been ready for the assault and we weren't. Worse, we seemingly accepted our fate without doing anything to alter the course.
That was a different era and has no relevance to today.
Don't know about not being ready, they were just better than us in the midfield- were we complacent because we beat them last time? Who knows, we just looked like we were rusty and lost that momentum built over the last 11 games before a bye.
They came out strongly which was always likely to happen and surely being complacent as you suggest is an indicator we weren't quite switched on or ready for it?
I'm not sure that one weeks break would make us look rusty.
I agree they're a quality side and they caught us out early and them stormed over us late. Gives us plenty to work on over the preseason.
We should have been ready for a hard, fair, even brutal physical contest.
We should not have been prepared and expecting assaults that had nothing to do with any fierce contest for the ball. The ball was not in dispute in these incidents including Himmelburgs. I feel genuinely sickened at the footage.
Greene plays right on the edge and often over the edge. The Dogs players I mentioned did exactly the same - the era is irrelevant, they pushed the envelope and often crossed the line to unacceptable, much like Greene.
I'm no Greene fan but I'm more annoyed at our lack of response yesterday. He'll cop his right whack but his team gets to keep playing finals because they were so much harder at the contest thsn we were (sometimes illegally).
I didn't like the way our players played in the era you're referring to. It was the only thing I didn't like about being a Bulldogs supporter at the time, because without it we could have been just as good as we were and with it we were made to look stupid when we couldn't get it done on the big stage over and again.
It was a different era, and the behaviours exhibited by these players should remain in the past.
Toby Greene is a serial offender, but what's worse, he seems to actually either choose instances where players are their most vulnerable or smaller than he is. His most recent efforts against Daniel, Dahlhaus (you can see a players face in your field of vision when looking at a football) and now Bontempelli prove this.
He is a little thug and the football world, particularly the Giants, would be a lot better if this was just openly admitted. I mean, even Greene himself might have a chance at redemption if it was admitted publicly and the issue was addressed publicly. Can you imagine the impact on his behaviour if the Giants did what they could within the confines of the players association agreement to discipline him - or better yet - work with he and his management to discipline him?
This is a person who is a known violent offender. He commits acts of violence on the footy field often. I am sick of the lenience he is afforded, he should be publicly shamed as the arsehole he is.
I would like to hear our Club come out tomorrow and make a stand to condemn this sniper.
We know already that the AFL will be in damage control to protect its asset. We know the fawning and defence that the likes of Whateley has had for this pig. We all know what the Giants football boss, Wayne Campbell, would be mouthing if the tables were turned. They were doing their utmost to have Bont rubbed out a few weeks back. Come on PG, announce a presser to out this sniper once and for all.
Btw Himmelberg also happens to be the other player driving Bont’s head into the ground with Greene. Himmelberg was targeting Bont on multiple occasions.
At least he got kicked in the nuts, and it was because of his push on Dunks that it occurred, so he effectively kicked himself in the nuts.
