Why isn't Lynch anywhere near the ball?
Because he chose to pull out of the marking contest and bump. We were told that if you choose to bump, no matter the reasons and if even accidental, that you are responsible for your actions.
However, the AFL play by random rules. The same as the crazy decision to let Cripps off last year. We need to protect the head! We keep allowing players to get concussed by players choosing to bump.
You all want goals and the game to flow etc however when one of our defenders decides to mindlessly sag into the path of probably the one forward who actually stands up for the forwards club everyone cracks it.
Free the forwards!
Interesting to hear Luke Hodge this morning on the incident. He said Lynch is very lucky to get away with smashing into Alex.
Geelong decided not to appeal the Gary Rohan suspension. They must have thought, meh, it's only Rohan :D
Also Will Day's appeal dismissed.

How many weeks for this one? Collingwood player knocked out behind play
Brayshaw free to play after the collision that concussed Libba.
MRO's explanation:
As much as it sucks that Libba misses next week I think this is a fair decision and an adequate explanation.Quote:
The incident involving the Fremantle?s Andrew Brayshaw and the Western Bulldogs? Tom Liberatore from the fourth quarter of Friday night's match was assessed. The ball bounces out of a stoppage away from Fremantle?s Michael Walters and Liberatore, and towards Brayshaw. As both Brayshaw and Liberatore approach the ball, Walters applies considerable pressure to Liberatore?s back as Brayshaw lowers to contest the ball and high contact is made. It is the view of the MRO that it was reasonable for Brayshaw to contest the ball in the way that he did and that contact was caused by circumstances outside the control of Brayshaw. No further action was taken.
I'd be filthy if Brayshaw played for us and was suspended for that incident.
Interestingly, Liam Jones 1st quarter bump didn't even warrant a mention by the MRO. Not that there was anything in it, in spite of BTs efforts to make something of it.
A cursory re-watch of it afterwards had me confident Jones wouldn't have to worry. The Freo player flung himself back to try and milk a free.
The Brayshaw one was interesting. My initial thoughts were he led with the leg and hip to a vulnerable player who was coming front on at him, but if they think Libba was pushed perhaps that's enough to get him off.
Surely Duncan gets at minimum 4 weeks
Does he?
Fox runs post the ball (granted inadvertently) and is on the way down when impact occurs. I can see this being handled similarly to Brayshaw's. I'm not sure what else Duncan can do there.
The Ward tackle on Lachie Neale was weird. It looked as though Neale was going out of his way to make sure his head hit the ground. There's hardly any force on Ward's part and the tackle looked perfectly reasonable to me.
I genuinely hope the MRO calls out Neale's actions to some extent.
One match bans for Ward and Jonas. Duncan no case to answer.
At a minimum I think GWS could argue Ward's tackle down to negligent conduct and low impact. There was hardly any force in that tackle.
Duncan should have got a week at least. Elected to bump and made the choice to bump very early. If it was one of our players they'd be out 1 - 2 weeks
Nobody asked him about it in the press conference, so he asked them to ask him about it so that he could say there was nothing in it. Something like "I've reviewed the footage and I think it was a football act, Fox ran past the ball and Mitch had to protect himself' then that became the media view on it.
2 Weeks and 3 weeks,

No weeks, no where near the ball.

That's sanity prevailing according to GG.
Because apparently Alex Keath is running directly backwards into Lynch at the moment of impact.
I'm sure the ball's going to get into the picture at some point. That it isn't is probably just another error on the insane viewer's part.....
Newman punches Neale to the chin and gets off.
