wouldn't go anywhere near Carlisle. there are better options around
I was talking about Carlisle this morning.
Has really been hampered by his back this year. The bigger issue is that the saints have Josh Battle who plays CHB/intercept like Carlisle, and neither are decent full backs. St Kilda need a full back and are seeking to pay heavily to bring players into the club ($900k for Brad Hill, $750k for Tomlinson).
They have no 2nd or 3rd round pick this year either so need trade currency.
Carlisle is apparently a 'lovely but dumb' bloke off the field, and gets really fired up on it. I would want him to pass a medical on his back as it may shorten his career.
We would be a good fit player wise as Trengove can play FB, and we'd have 'over the top' intercept types like Wood, Crozier, Cordy and Lachie Young as options for support.
I'm ambivalent as I think he is one more back injury away from being mediocre.

If this is true we are in with a chance to get Jack Martin .
That was posted a few pages back, it's official now:
Gun Sun on the move: Talented mid officially requests trade
YOUNG Gold Coast star Jack Martin has officially requested a trade from the club.
The 24-year-old, who is out of contract, has played 97 games for the Suns since making his debut in round one of 2014.
The skilful and versatile mid-sized player joined the club as a 17-year-old during the club's expansion period in 2012.
"Jack Martin has informed the club that he will request a trade during the exchange period next month," Gold Coast general manager of football operations Jon Haines told the club website.
"Jack and his manager will work through his options, as will the club's list management team, in a bid to get the best possible outcome."
The AFL Trade Period runs from 7-16 October.
If we can't get Keath, or Carlisle, who else can we chase as a KPP for the backline?

Carlton eyeing double deal for small forwards Tom Papley and Jack Martin to bolster problem area
Tom Papley and Jack Martin are the two most sought-after small forwards on the market and Carlton is growing in confidence it can land both. Will the Blues pull off a trade coup?
Carlton believes it can secure both Jack Martin and Sydney’s Tom Papley as the Suns midfielder prepares to tell Gold Coast he is leaving at his exit interview on Tuesday.
The exciting half forward has made up his mind that he will leave the Suns, but had vowed he would not meet with rival clubs during the season.
It means while the Blues and Western Bulldogs are at the head of the chasing pack, he is yet to meet with any rival.
Carlton is desperate to secure Martin and Papley as it also tries to secure GWS midfielder Stephen Coniglio as a free agent.
Adelaide’s slump down the ladder means Carlton has the No. 8 pick in the draft after their pick swap with the Crows.
But the Blues might be able to use that selection to trade for two later first-round picks that would help them secure Papley and Martin if he requests a trade for Carlton.
Martin was initially keen to get to Essendon last year but the Dons didn’t have the picks to secure him.
A talented but unfulfilled player who has twice finished in the top-three in the Suns’ best and fairest, he is expected to ask for upwards of $600,000 for his services.
The Suns will pitch for a pre-draft selection at Tuesday’s commission meeting and Martin’s departure as their much-prized mini-draft selection will only add to their claims.
They will be a significant player in this years trade period, they could actually have more cap space than us to splash around.
Brad Hill is a considered a lock and they are chasing Tomlinson and have put the feelers out for a ruckman to support Marshall but given their lack of KP defensive depth it's more than a little intriguing that are willing to shop Carlisle around after one season of him struggling with an injury
Even at close to his best I'm not sure he is attacking enough for us. He's a very good one on one defender but it's not his style to take the game on and move the ball quickly. In other words you gain a lot in one area but give up a bit in another
If we were interested we may as well trade out Trengove and maybe Collingwood would be interested.
There are some similarities with they playing style with Carlisle being the superior option but I'd imagine they are chalk and cheese around the club and off field.
Just an opinion
