He's hardly going to be taking a 5 hour round plane trip during the season given the amount of flying the WA teams have to do. It's the same as Harbrow going home to the Gold Coast when he was from Cairns. I don't buy the going home line. If it's for more money and a longer deal just come out and say it.

That's nice.
What isn't in Perth is an accomplished team defence around him.
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
You could argue Hamling wouldn't be playing AFL if it wasn't for the Dogs. Sign a 2 year deal with the club, back yourself to reproduce your finals form, play for a successful side and then go back to Freo on an even bigger deal next time If so called home sickness is a problem...
Even with Adams in the team, Hamling is best 22. Get it done Dogs.

I still don't think he will be best 22. He is player 18-26 for me, and will be insurance more than anything.
I think a backline of
Morris Adams Biggs
JJ Wood Bob
will be sufficient, given we play our team defence. Roberts/Collins/Cordy wait in the wings for injuries and match ups.
If Hamling was willing to accept an average contract I'd be happy for him to stay, but he is not the guy we break our list managament/salary management strategy for. If we falter and give him an extra 50k so that he stays, it sends the wrong message to our other players and their managers.
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
Really don't want to lose Hamling. He had an outstanding finals series and gives us so much flexibility being able to play small and tall. How many blokes in the AFL, let alone our list, could spend time on Buddy and Cyril in the one finals series.
There is certainly question marks around Adams' durability at this point. And we really have no idea whether or not Collins will be a player - far too early to tell - and in any case, Collins is a very very different type to Hamling. As is Cordy even though they have a similar build - Cordy doesn't have the aerial ability that Hamling does.
There is a case to be made that Hamling performed as well as any other player of ours in the finals series - when we played our best footy of the year. He is still young and could be building into something great. None of us know the finances involved with our current list, but for me - $400K a year for a player with his attributes, is nothing extraordinary.

no way pick 18
Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
No we can't offer our first pick but that's what they'll want. I'd package up something with Stevens.

Re: The Moving Rolling De-Listing/Trading Thread 2016
Also the Rat is gone to either Carlton or Norf unfortunately pretty much confirmed by his manger on trade radio. There was no mention of the pick coming our way.
Honeychurch has been mentioned in the Deledio deal so far.

You want to eat omlette you have to crack some eggs. I'm up for a swap of 18 for their second rounder.
