Clarko complains about something and it gets paid; Tom Papley has been charged with staging.
Came here the say the same thing, amazing isn't it?
To be fair it was an awful dive though, and the umpire fell for it as well.
Quote:
Tom Papley, Sydney Swans, has been charged with Staging (Fixed Financial Sanction) during the fourth quarter of the Round 10 match between Collingwood and the Sydney Swans, played at the Gabba on Thursday August 6.
In summary, he can accept a $500 sanction with an early plea.
Based on the available evidence, the incident was assessed as Staging (Fixed Financial Sanction). The incident was classified as a $750 sanction as a first offence. The player can accept a $500 sanction with an early plea.
Papley's stunt was appalling but the AFEL have reverse engineered the game to the point where there are now five blokes indignantly appealing for a free, any free, at every contest in the hope someone strikes it lucky.
I cannot believe the advocation for a guy getting suspended for four weeks for that sling tackle mid season when there's been so many actions just as dangerous this year that have been either unpunished or only given a week.
Just an absolute shit show of moving goal posts on a really simple proposition.
Genuine Todd Curley moment.
Pretty harsh call
Needs to change his surname
That was a disgraceful tackle, multiple weeks is what it deserved.
It's interesting because its actually part of the game and obviously it was an horrendously dangerous attempt at the tackle.
However I think what Mayes did was as bad or worse. I guess the bump is part of the game too but that was a real take out move.
I would've been OK with two weeks for both incidents.
