And if we do end up playing a final in Queensland, the Hemsworths can now be there to cheer us on after the Queensland border bubble has been extended:

4.40pm start, expecting high of 26 with sunset at 5.49 pm, so most likely a little cooler then

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
Any woofers from Queensland or states that can travel there planning to go?
Elimination final fixture confirmed
The Gabba will host the Saints-Dogs clash at 4.40pm AEST on Saturday 3 October.
The AFL has today announced the fixtures for the first week of the 2020 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
A twilight clash awaits for the seventh-placed Western Bulldogs in the second elimination final, against sixth-placed St Kilda.
The Gabba will host the Saints-Dogs clash at 4.40pm AEST on Saturday 3 October.
It will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.
The winner will progress to a semi-final against the loser of Friday night’s second qualifying final between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond.
For key forward Josh Bruce, his first taste of finals football is set to come against his former side, after nine years in the AFL system.
The Bulldogs and Saints haven’t met in a final for 10 years.
Back-to-back preliminary finals between the two sides occurred in 2009 and 2010, with the Saints edging past the Bulldogs on both occasions.
Tickets will go on-sale next Tuesday, September 29 via Ticketmaster for the Western Bulldogs’ elimination final at The Gabba. Tickets will be made available to club members prior to going on-sale to the general public.
Remaining tickets not sold during the member priority period will be made available to the general public to purchase.
Based on state border restrictions as of 24 hours prior to the ticket on-sale, only members who reside in states with open borders to Queensland, or who reside in Queensland, will be eligible to purchase tickets.
Eligible members will be communicated to via email later this week, with relevant information (pricing, barcode, on-sale time).

For more finals ticketing FAQs, or for the latest on-sale information, visit the club’s Finals Hub.

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
Deflating. Badly wanted AO for both selfish reasons and because it’s what the Saints didn’t want.
From a purely crowd/spectacle, you’d think the neutral relatively footy starved South Australians would likely be more likely also fill every available seat.

I was surprised how few people there were at the hawks game - I think I heard around 4000? It was a nice day, would have expected more to turn up. I wonder how many neutrals would be keen in SA or Queensland at finals ticket prices?
Edit: Apparently only 2625

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
With that start time it will be pretty warm.
Will need to bring heat to the contest.
Might say let's put the Saints into Hell and burn their finals campaign.

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
I'd love to be able to go, YHF you lucky devil :)

A Saturday 4pm final is a far, far more attractive proposition than a 3pm Sunday slot. Selling out might be a tad optimistic, but a final in a footy state that has had minimum chips games versus Qld (who have had a saturation) would surely get a bigger crowd.

Absolutely no doubt there would be a bigger crowd in SA, how much bigger is the question.

YHF - you’ve got to cheer extra loud for all woofers. I want to hear you on the broadcast from the Gabba hollering at full tilt.

I hope i can grab tickets for me and my family. We'll just have to see if we're quick enough when they offer them to members!

It will be interesting. I'm confident that all members who are residents of Qld, should be able to obtain tickets based on the communication from club.

I seriously would hope that all members who are able to attend can attend.
If paid up members somehow miss out it would not be a great look.

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
Do we know what the capacity will be for the first final? I know they are hoping for 30,000 for the grand final but I don't think they will allow that many yet. Looks like Brisbane have been getting up around 15,000 so I'm guessing 15,000-20,000?
I would be amazed if any members that wanted to go couldn't get tickets. I doubt we have a significant number of Queensland members (plus other state members allowed and willing to travel). If there are 20,000 allowed it probably won't even sell out anyway.

Current allowed is 15000, but they are looking at increasing this to 20,000

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
Geelong has named the oldest team ever in an V/AFL game with an average age of 28 years 5mths or 161 games average.
They have 11 players with over 150 games of experience.

I’d like to think we are in a totally different space than round 2. I’d also say that all of the teams on this list have fluctuated pretty heavily over the course of the season and it’s been about when you’ve played them.
WC for example have gone from awful, to invincible, to flakey.
Firstly, hopefully the pendulum has swung the right way at the moment for us. Secondly, hopefully the other games are tight and the other team belt suitcases out of each other.

Re: 2020 Footy Finals (Weeks 1-3)
I think the Eagles will get a hold the Pies over there, but the other games are shaping up as genuine 50/50s.
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Port fall over tonight, though I was pretty impressed with how they absorbed pressure in their last round game against Collingwood. Power just.
I think Richmond will just be too good and will get the job done.
Us...well I'm hoping our big boys in the middle put the foot down on the throats of the inexperienced Saints and we ambush them in the first quarter.

I'm thinking the Cats will struggle against Port. Their form has been average lately. Be watching that one with interest.

Subject to any match committee master-strokes we're better equipped to the tune of Hunter, Wood, Cordy & Duryea in place of Gowers, Dale, Lloyd & Suckling last time we played this mob.
That alone helps allay some nervousness.
----
As to other results; suspect the Eagles demolish the Pies, the Power edge the Cats in a gruelling one and the Tigers send Brisbane our way in a heart-breaker.

Have to feel a little sorry for Steven. He played in 1 final for St Kilda in 11 years (a loss in 2011, didn't get a game in 2009/10). Leaves the year the Saints finally return to finals and gets dropped by the Cats.
