What industry isn't like that these days?

The complete absence of regulation online has created so many problems for society and its about to get a whole lot worse with AI.

I remember the (somewhat fake) concern there was for AI a few years ago when it was in its commercial infancy. Now it's a complete free for all without any concern for the future. You've even got most tech companies blatantly advertising its fu**ery.

I know a purposely misleading quote is a galaxy away from AI, but the point around lack of regulation and controls online is the same. Society is suffering for it.

The whole compo system sucks and all the clubs are effected. Need a new system.

If the Saints get pick 5 for Josh Battle then it confirms a few things
That God does like Battlers and that he is indeed a Saint.

That is a gift from God if it plays out that way.

They’ll just draft someone bad with the pick anyway. If they get two picks in the top 10 can we try and make sure to have the pick straight after again?

The problem i see is that clubs can offer huge contracts to trigger an early first round pick for good ordinary players, but then either front or back end load a contract, that is the issue for me, stop that and clubs may think twice about giving players like that such large contracts, if player A is on 500K per season for 4 years, then make them earn that 500K for each season.

Isn't Battle an unrestricted free agent? Saints can't drive up his price(match) to get good compensation.

Saints can still offer him a big fat contract if they were desperate for him to say in which the Hawks would have to up the ante to pry him out of the St Kilda, ultimately the decision is Battle's and if he is sitting on the fence umming and arr'ing, the Hawks would probably have to offer something quite decent for him to leave which then up's what the Saints get in return which is what, pick 5? they'd be pushing him out.

Sorry but he is unrestricted hawks don’t need to match the saints at all. The hawks offer could be less than the saints one.

Yes but the Hawks still have to try and see how much bait it takes for him to want to move? Just because you're an unrestricted free agent, doesn't mean you WANT to move, the Hawks obviously see him as part of their big plan going forward for future success as a possible player available under the free agent tag but he may be happy as a Saint unless................that bait is too juicy if you know what i mean.

He might want to just leave. Not play under Lyon or go to club that’s going places.

I don't know the facts but from reading the media Sam Mitchell has been working overtime to try and pry him out of Moorabbin, plus offering him a big contract enough to trigger a first round compo pick suggests to me that he's more than happy as a Saint but the big fat contract could be what it takes, just a hunch though.
